The role of sport in national identity cannot be underestimated. For many, it provides a catalyst of national pride and patriotism, galvanising a people in a single moment of glory.
What is your official national sport?
In many countries, the official national sport is not necissarily the one most associated with national pride, nor the most popular.
What is the sport that has your citizens foaming at the mouth every time a game is played? Is it your official national sport, or is it a completely different sport altogether?

In Arcacia, it is archery. This is due to the importance of archery as a means of defence in Arcacia's earliest days. Despite no longer needing to organise a militia, archery is still part of school sports programs and almost every Arcacian can fire an arrow with dexterity.
In Lycanthia, it is handball. Imported by French settlers in the 20th century, handball quickly gained popularity and the Lycanthian national team is one of the most respected sports teams in the country.

In Arcacia, it is most definitely hockey. With a national league that some would argue is disproportionate to Arcacia's size, there is even an entire channel devoted to the sport and hockey is shown 24 hours a day. Every game of the AHL (Arcacian Hockey League) is shown live and a spot on the national team is the most coveted goal for Arcacia's ~3,500 registered players.
In Lycanthia, it is speed skating and handball. Handball games are very popular, but speed skating, especially international competitions, have Lycanthians glued to their televisions. Hockey also draws an enthusiastic crowd

What is your official national sport?
Fornax have no national sport, but it does have popular sports that are played and watched by almost every Fornaxian.
Soccer
Hockey
Volleyball
Canoeing
Curling

Cricket is the national sport of Ollingdale, alongside former rulers Britain.

Cricket is the most popular sport, followed by football, where Ollingdale and Woking compete in the Europa League and Barclays Premier League, and tennis is also popular.
Cricket is the national sport of Ollingdale, alongside former rulers Britain.

In Escambia the official national sport is American football. American football became very popular in the early 80s an was adopted as the official sport of Escambia in the early 90s. Escambia competes from Pee-wee to International levels of play
In Ceará Islands the official sport is Football or Soccer in american terms. This has been Ceará Islands most popular and official sport since it was created in 1903

In Ceará Islands soccer is always sold out. But baseball has found a strong hold in the Islands with the Ceará Islands Naturals won the SLB AAA Championship last year

The Republic of Lydosia official national sport is Basketball. In Bougainville it is Basketball too and in Lanaya, it is Soccer.

For Holidia, there is no official national sport, the defacto is however, Football (Soccer). With over 60% of boys aged 10-15 in team and 85% of boys regularly playing football weekly or more.
In Grammar Schools, the male sport is Rugby in winter, Cricket in summer and the female sport is Hockey or Netball in winter, Tennis in summer. In high schools there are no semi-official sports but for boys football is predominantly played over rugby and for girls netball over hockey.

Holidia has a fairly good International football team (27th in world rankings, although for nation size this is excellent) and football is by far the most televised and popular sport.

In the major cities like Hypertrophy, Damoskinos, and Valentina it is Sailing. Since the City of Gartlan doesn't have oceans and bays and it sits at a high elevation it is "skiing".
