The islands of the Melanesia Caroline Group

I have reshape the coastlines and added new countries into the Melanesia Caroline Group, formerly known as Caroline Countries.

The reasons for the changes is 1) to redefine and sharpen the coastal edges of the existing countries, and 2) to add in more in-depth role-playing options with minimal conflicts with real-life countries.

As you can see above, six new countries are added with new coastlines. For example, Fornax, which use to be a single island, is now separated into two islands.

A seven and a half hours extensive research was conducted to redefine the coastlines and search for the appropriate names for the countries and islands.

According to the research (mostly on Wikipedia and Google Earth), the Melanesia Caroline Group lies in either the Eauripik Rise (includes East Caroline Basin) side or the Ontong Java Rise (includes Melanesian Basin and Lyra Basin) side. Most of the countries are located on the Ontong Java Rise. Both sides are separated by the Mussau Ridge.

A majority of the countries are located on the Melanesian region of Oceania, with a few located on the Micronesian region.

The coastlines are drawn according to the trenches and ridges within the Melanesia Caroline Group in order to give a more accurate geographical look. The coastlines are also drawn carefully to prevent any real-life islands from being covered up. Four islands were found within the region: Nauru, Banaba Island, Kapingamarangi Atoll and Kuruoro Atoll.
