Arcacian Airlines Group Fleet Upgrade Empty Arcacian Airlines Group Fleet Upgrade

Post by Daniel 28th July 2010, 10:53

The Arcacian Airlines Group is currently discussing the future of the fleet, with the board of directors considering a major upgrade of the fleets of Arcacian Airlines, Australian Airlines, East-West Airlines, Air Lycanth and SouthAir.

It is unlikely that the entire existing fleets of Boeing 737-400s will be sold, however AAG is currently looking at a gradual phase-in of Boeing 737-600, -700, -800 and -900 models, as well as the introduction of the Embraer E-170 to the Arcacian, Australian and East-West fleets.

Following is a list of aircraft to be added to each fleet:

Arcacian Airlines: All 737-400s replaced with -700, -800, and -900s. 737 Fleet to be expanded to 20, 3 E-170s to be added to fleet.
SouthAir: 1 737-400 replaced by 1 -700, and 1 replaced with -800.
Air Lycanth: 2 737-400s replaced with -800s.
Australian Airlines: Several 737-400s replaced by -600, -700, -800, 900s and E-170s. Final numbers yet to be determined.
East-West Airlines: Some 737-400s replaced by E-170s and 737-700s. Final numbers yet to be determined.

As well as this, Arcacian Airlines will take delivery of 3 Boeing 777-300s and 2 Boeing 747-400s by the end of the year. Additionally, the airline has placed an order for 3 Boeing 787-8s and 1 787-3.

The Arcacian Airlines Group has rejected the idea of adding any Airbus aircraft to the fleet, with AAG's CEO stating that although Airbus have a solid reputation, he "just can't get past the name."

In other news from the AAG, it appears that yet another airline will join the company, with profits from Dan-Air being used to set up a new airline, Aria Sicilia, based in Palermo, Sicily and flying short hops to destinations in and around the Mediterranean. Details are still sketchy at this point, but the announcement of the new venture, along with the fleet expansion plan has seen AAG share price jump to $4.97, up $1.29 at the closing bell of the Providence Stock Exchange (PSX).
