Arcacia sounds like an utopia, don't you think?

It's not. Believe me.

I should clarify something. When I said that the Arcacian definition of poverty was earning less than $30,000, I was speaking about the average Arcacian's view of what poverty was. The government's definition is 75% of the cost of living. In Arcacia, this works out to be about $15,000 per annum.

Arcacia is not utopian. We have crime, albeit a low rate. We have idiots. We have people who make bad decisions and we have people who suffer as a result of someone else's bad decisions.

We just have a good safety net for those who need one.

The welfare system is not without conditions. We don't just pay people to sit on their backsides and do nothing. They must actively look for work, or enter training or further education. The exception to this is those who are sick or injured. We also have a decent senior citizens benefit scheme. Also, welfare will only kick in once you have less than $5000 in liquid assets. So, the CEO of a company, earning $750,000 a year can't sign on the day after he's made redundant.

There is also a difference between the public and private health system. It's split about 50/50 (or there abouts) with half the country having private health cover. The remainder rely on the public system, which is free. Once you earn over $55,000 per annum, you must take out private health insurance. The public system will still be there to pick up the slack on anything that your policy doesn't cover.

It may seem like it, but we don't just throw money at people.

LIQUID assets. Cash, shares or the like. The reason the welfare payments are equivalent to minimum wage is so people don't lose their houses if they lose their jobs. If the welfare payments aren't enough to cover rent/mortgage payments, they can apply for rental assistance.

Okay, that makes more sense.

Does Arcacia has a lot of insurances companies? (Just wondering)

It has a few, mostly international companies, but there are a few local companies. Enough to be compeditive, but not so many as to be ridiculous.

I understood what you meant by "out of the way" but I refute it. Our largest trading partner is our next door neighbour. A country with 21,000,000 people.

and ur 3/4 would be Calaré which is also ur neighbour.. and we're not totally out in the middle of B F nowhere... the region Australasia (Australia,Arcacia, Calaré, New Zealand) would have a combined population close to 30million
