In the morning of 12 September 2010, 7.33 am local time (UTC +11), a magnitude of 6.7 earthquake gave a wake-up call to the people of Fornax. It was reported that the ground shook for about 20 seconds.

Location of Epicentre
The epicentre of the earthquake is located about 65km south of the Bay of Sypogen. Tremors could be felt as far as the Pearl Straits. No tsunami warnings were given due to no visible threat of tsunamis.

Structural Stability and Casualty Count
All ERS are reported to be structurally stable. There are cases of falling objects which only causes minor injury and were treated on site. No fatalities were reported and no one were admitted to the hospital.

Outside of the ERS boundary, flatten houses were reported in Sypogen, the city closest to the epicentre. All buildings in the city centre were reported to be visually undamaged.

Evacuation
For safety precautions, refugees in ERS were evacuated from the ERS for fears of the roof collapsing on them. Refugees were then allowed to enter the ERS shortly before 8 am local time.
