QUESTION 1: Does your nation offer free healthcare and education for all?

Yes. Private health insurance is required for those earning above $55,000, but anything not covered by that policy is covered by Medicare. Anyone without private health cover is automatically covered by Medicare.

QUESTION 2: What % of GDP does your government spend on both health and education (separately)?

Health: 10.4%, Education: 11.9%

QUESTION 3: What ages are considered the main full-time education age? Is it compulsory under law for children to attend school to a certain age?

Attendance is compulsory for children age 6-16. There are two additional years which are optional. Most Arcacians (93%) will attend the additional optional years.

QUESTION 4: Does your government provide free prescriptions?

Yes. Prescriptions that are considered necessary for life are offered free of charge. Others are heavily subsidised. Very few prescriptions are not covered and new prescriptions are often added to the scheme if a citizen requires it.

QUESTION 5: How is your education system run?

The Department of Education is the government office responsible for all education in Arcacia. Most schools in Arcacia are public. Private schools are also answerable to the Department of Education, though they tend to operate somewhat more autonomously than public schools.

QUESTION 6: How is your healthcare system run?

The Department of Health is the government body responsible for maintaining hospitals, clinics, doctor registries, the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme and Medicare. Private hospitals also answer to the Department of Health, though they tend to operate more autonomously than public hospitals.

QUESTION 7: Is there anything unique about your nation's education or healthcare systems?

In Arcacia, so-called "alternative" medicines are heavily regulated. Such things as homoeopathy, chiropractic, osteopathy, etc are illegal. Vaccination is compulsory except where a doctor has established that a patient is allergic to eggs, immuno-compromised, or has another condition that prevents vaccination. Objections on religious grounds or "conscientious objections" are not permitted. Failure to vaccinate a child is a reportable offence.

Education is completely free, except for private schools. University degrees are also subsidised by Government. Any remaining fees are tax deductible. This includes money spent on textbooks and university accommodation.
