History:

Matinenda was a part of France when Napoleon was alive, then once he died the land was soon one of Greece. But during the Imperialistic age the British and the Greeks fought for the land Matinenda was taken over by Germany in a surprise attack. During World War I America invaded German territory (Also known as current day Germany) and captured it. After the war, it was granted independence, but France provided Army protection so Matinenda wouldn't have to worry about it. But in 1930's during the American Great Depression, Americans saw Matinenda as a shelter from the bad economy America had, and heard of Matinenda's Economic Stability. Tons of Americans moved there, and it spread many American cultures to Matinenda because many American Architects moved in, and they did what they did best, and made designs for houses, so much of American Architecture is found in current day Matinenda. In World War II, Matinenda tumbled with France because it still had a dependability of the French Army. Once World War II was over many Germans moved to Matinenda in disgust what happened to their homeland.

HHHmmmm...... :suspect:

Well, I was lurking your CJ and if this is somewhere Eastern Europe, there should be more European buildings as well as some Euro mods such as your streets and cars. Too me, it looks too English to me than something you find in mainland Europe. For example, there would be more W2Ws around the city center as well some other areas.

Well, you do have a good start. However, you need to improve a bit more.

-Best of luck! Laugh

Good Start to your application

I agree too with Evillions some Euro mods and some french Style Buildings possibly from Porkie on the Stex would suit your history better because its set in what is southern France... But Nice start so far, a bit of work on your history wouldn't go astray either, but yeah good start.

I have been trying to find some buildings but I could find anymore, w2w will work though. Sad to hear it seems more of an American City. Also: I have Euro Streets and European Car Replacement Mod, so I got that covered. And yes the History was bad but I needed something to think of (Europe was one of the first continents known by Humans so I couldn't say it was discovered) Thank for telling me the flaws, I will make a new post when I got all of the things I need and tell you guys. (Probably Sunday or Monday I'll get it done). I play SimCity 4 religiously so I'll at least get the materials at the latest tomorrow.

Edit: Can you guys give me some sites to get more European buildings please? I only use Simtropolis and SC4devotion and I have almost all of the buildings I could find that looked European. I also played with the history so it fits better with Matinenda's architecture. I know I still need more European buildings but I used that to help blend in the American buildings.

Ok, on that part I bolded, you don't need to! Take as much time as you need, we're not rushing you! Smile Trust me, it took me awhile to get admission into AIN. It took me about 9 pages, 9 PAGES!!! just to get into AIN. And I took my time during my application so yeah. Real Life always comes first before playing games, don't wanna mess up your relations now do you? Smile

I already got some new BAT's in and tested so they all work. All I need to do is find some more (Need some links if you got any), and to make a post of the new BAT's to show Matinenda is Euro. I'm really excited to join the AIN so that's why I'm rushing. Wow that's alot, I hope it won't take me that long to join. I have nothing to do until Tuesday so I don't have to worry about life, but what you stated is true. You also have to understand I'm an American so I don't know exactly how European Architecture is, so I won't be the brightest on it. I thank you guys for the help cause I'll need it.

Firstly, welcome to the union and I'm pleased you decided to apply. As others have said, it's a very nice application and I did have a read through it when you mentioned in the AIN thread that you wished to apply. The only things I would say need improving are:

- More European buildings. What you could do is move into the Mediterranean, and then you could use some of Mickebear's Mediterranean lots from SC4D. If you want any help with a map for that, then just ask and I can help.

- The history could be a bit more realistic and sensitive. If you wish I can help you write one, because I'm really sad and like writing histories for nations. Cheeky/Razz

Personally I do think that is all you really need, and I would recommend moving off the continent and into the Med, because then you could really make it your own, use the vast array of mediterranean lots on SC4D, and you could trade with Cattala (my nation) and Fairview a lot more easily.
I'd love to see another Mediterranean country here. Smile

First of all, welcome to AIN! Next, the location of your country is very priviligiated. Between Italy and France and... the mediterranean. Well, I will suggest that you should mix modern architeture with the European one and historical monuments prototype of Europe, and how Matinenda is in the south of France, why don't you create some touristic places with beaches and golf, try to do something like the city of Cannes I ( all of us) will apreciated that. But otherwise, you excellent skills and your CJ is fine, and... that's all...keep going , you are in a good direction! Laugh

I just need to find more Euro Textures. I kinda want to do a Euro city and like I said I've downloaded more Euro Textures so I'll make a post about them to show it. History I know wasn't the best but I may accept your offer to help with my history. Also: I can move Matinenda but as long as it's still in Europe I'll be Ok. I do need to build more golf resorts and beaches but I have been only playing Matinenda for a week and had more focused on building it up. So I will definitely build them today. In fact I'll edit it's location so it's in a better spot for trade.

Edit: I know that the flag needs to be better so can someone help me find a star to use? I use Paint.net
And I don't think I should move Matinenda, the mountains can the region can signify the Alps and where it's at already has the alps in it.

Here's the newest update with the European buildings. Thanks for the French buildings, I tried SimCity Polska but it won't let me register. And I added French and Italian to the languages, like in the history. US and German citizens moved to Matinenda so immigration could've caused the two to become an official language, so it is realistic from what I think (I could be wrong.)

No. You could get away with English, but definitely not German.
It's starting to look more European, but it will take a lot more custom content for it to work if you grow it. Have you got the buildingplop cheat? That's very useful.
And have you given any thought to moving offshore and becoming a more Italian CJ? It would mean you could have one set of buildings, Mediterranean ones, rather than the broad European style.

The region I use has a coast on it so I thought that'd be used to the Mediterranean Sea. What's the building plop cheat? German I will take off then. And I do need more European buildings but I can't find anymore except French which I will download later.

The region you use doesn't have to be a representative of your CJ, and your cities don't all have to be functional.
Buildingplop is a "cheat" that allows you to plop every building you've downloaded. Here's a link to the download: http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=21118

And there's lots of threads at Simtropolis with guides and things for buildingplop. Smile

Well, it's a start... But not what I'm looking for.. Speechless

You don't have to make everything functional, you can just plop for all I care. The thing is, you need some corner W2Ws too because it looks out of place without having those corners. Otherwise, you might as well get rid of them. Take a look around at some great European CJs at SC4devotion. (Yes, you go there for CJs, they have MUCH better CJs than Simtropolis does for inspiration.)

Pertaining to your W2Ws, make them more diverse. Nobody likes seeing the same building for about 50 times now do they? Take a look at these peoples' works.
psander5 This creator is a bit too English like, but there some good ones he has.

xannepan His works are at Simtrop, but that's his older works. To see his recent ones, go to the LEX.

porkissimo Very Parisian! You should check his works out!

Ferox They're more Warsaw or Central Europe like. However, he has ALOT of great W2Ws you can use.

TSC Since this is in adjancet to France, you need some TSC BATs too!

Hope these links helped you! Smile

I'd like it too though for the realism you know? If I ever need to show it for any reason I want to to be realistic so I don't get any questions about it. Building prop sounds good, I can use it for the corner shops. Also thanks for the new links now I will download more later.

I remember when I first joined the AIN. Ollingdale (my first nation) was completely functional and I liked it, but the quality was not as good as some of the more dysfunctional CJs. Now I have Cattala, which is only partly functional and most of the bigger areas are plopped or fuelled by plopped skyscrapers elsewhere.
I completely understand where you're coming from, and hopefully the new buildings will help. Functionality is great, but it can come at the expense of quality and aesthetics.

I only have one more question before I get the building prop mod.

1. Will buildings still grow even with the mod?
2. Will the buildings have any functions? Do they do what the Grow-able kinds do?
3. Would I find them in the landmarks menu?
4. Do I need the landmark version of the building for the mod to work??

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Some, yes, but you have to follow the directions of the mod.
4. No, you need a plopable version of the building for the building to work with the mod. And after you downloaded buildings, you have to re-install the mod every times to have the mod working.
