Day 4 Empty Day 4

Post by Liberater444 13th January 2010, 06:34

Public transportation is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle that is modern transportation in today's cities. Without public transportation, many people would have to rely on friends or their own legs to get to work and other locations.

Today is dedicated to the public transportation on water. There are a couple questions today:

What are the total number of WATER pub. trans. types, and what are they?
What are your signature/most used WATER pub. trans types?
What, if any, projects are you working on to expand or update your WATER pub. trans.?

Bonus: Tell us about recreational water transportation.

Arcacia has a number of ferry services run by the Arcacian National Railway that connect the outlying islands with the mainland. There are four services:

1. Ipinimini Ferry connecting the small island of Ipinimini with Providence.
2. Northern Islands Ferry connecting the district of the Nothern Islands with Hastings, Yorke Bay and Lytehope, Providence.
3. Yorke Bay Ferry connecting Whale Island and Euphini with Yorke.
4. Lennox Bay Ferry connecting Cannes and Sapphire Islands with Redding City.

These ferry services are vehicular and passenger services and are rather iconic as they have been running since the early 20th century. The original ferries are now part of the Annabellelin chain of floating restaurants.

There are no plans to expand the ferry network.

As for recreational watercraft, houseboats are common in Yorke Bay as the waters are sheltered and relatively calm. Fishing vessels, speed boats and kayaks are also a common sit nationwide.

What are the total number of WATER pub. trans. types, and what are they?

Total: 4
Types: Passenger Ferries, Water Taxis, Tourist Lines, Civilian-Military Ferry Lines

What are your signature/most used WATER pub. trans types?

In the City of Hypertrophy and Damoskinos it is obviously the Passenger Ferries. Ferries have been operational in Hypertrophy since the 1800s. Although, the ferries still transport cars between Counterdome and Hypertrophy, because these two cites are 7 miles apart from each other.

Water Taxis usually surround the river sections of the major cities. Even in the City of Gartlan there is one Water Taxi that transport people throughout the Atlas River.

What, if any, projects are you working on to expand or update your WATER pub. trans.?

Engineers are working on a plan to reduce time by creating an underground tunnel between Counterdome, HK and the Pacifica District of Hypertrophy which is only 3 Miles apart from each other. However there are some problems. Funding is the #1 problem of the City of Hypertrophy. It will cost an estimated 30 Billion Royals to complete the project, and it may go even higher.

The #2 problem is a natural disaster that threatens the city every day. Seismic. Lucily there is no faultline that runs through the City of Hypertrophy, but the nearest faultine is 28 miles south east from the city. It's called the Montadome Faultine and it last ruptured in 1994 which destroyed a good portion of the city, and if this faultine ruptures again the underwater transtube between Counterdome and Hypertrophy will flood and destroy, causing serious casualties. Engineers are trying to figure out a way to reduce traffic commute between Hypertrophy and Counterdome, and cope with a natural enemy every day.

Bonus: Tell us about recreational water transportation.

Recreational trasnportation is best used from Downtown Hypertrophy to Sovereignty Island and Morrigan Island. Where visitors may visit the tomb of Empress Morrigan and view the Hypertrophy Bay from the Statue of Sovereignty. There are many visitors in Hypertrophy that take the Meridian Charter Line. This recreational ferry line begins from Downtown Hypertrophy to Pleasure Island. The price is 50 Royals to travel for a timeframe of 2.5 hours.
