Day 6 Empty Day 6

Post by Liberater444 19th January 2010, 05:10

Pollution is a big problem in many modern cities, as well as many suburban towns. There are many groups that advocate emmision and pollution reduction, as well as alternate-fuel source cars. Today's question is this:

What ways are you cutting down on pollution?

Novland is cutting its emissions in half by switching 50% of power consumption from coal to clean energy such as wind and solar. This project is expected to be complete by 2025.

Using the new chemical element discovered during the Rafforsia Radiation Scare back in 2008, aranium has been slowly adopted within all the countries of Universal Fornax as a new alternative fuel source.

Aranium, when being processed into energy fuel, emits helium and nitrogen into the atmosphere, with an incredibly small amount of carbon dioxide. Processing aranium into energy fuel requires a similar method to producing nuclear energy, but without radiation.

When used together with Rafforsia's invention of a machine which transform carbon dioxide from the air to produce oxygen and carbon (later to form diamond), this machine has been adopted around Universal Fornax and has been proved to be successful, although it's a slow process.

Also, vehicles that meets the low emission standards and vehicles using clean energy have been receiving low or no vehicle taxes. This is a way to encourage vehicle users to switch to vehicles using low or no emission. The vehicles includes, but not limited to, cars, ships, airplanes, military vehicles and government vehicles.

Afforestation and reforestation projects have recently begun on Borneo and Fornax. Although extremely costly due to extensive research that have to be done, flora that will be replanted into the project areas will be of a variety depending of the biome history of the project area. Fauna will also be shifted to these newly reforested areas in order to prevent the extinction of the floras and faunas.

100% of Arcacia's electricity comes from renewable energy sources. Coal was phased out in the '80s. Fusion, solar and wind are the major producers.

There are incentives for clean industry and as a result, Arcacia has virtually no dirty industry and technology parks have replaced industrial parks.

Registration of high-emission vehicles is considerably more expensive than low-emission vehicles with the money earmarked for carbon offset programs.

Heavy investment in a broad and integrated public transport system has also reduced pollution by encouraging people to use trains, trams, subways and buses instead of their cars. As part of this effort, public transport is completely free.

Aleksania is in the process of phasing out 85% of it's fosial fuel power plants. Aleksania has one nuclear power plant (RAP Station 25; Kiev, ROA), and it's is conducting research in partnership with Russia, Germany, and the US in developing a fusion power plant. Also, 10% of Aleksanias power comes from geothermal. Currently, 30% of Aleksanias comes from non-poluting sources, with an additional 20% from natural gas. In addition, Aleksania has a program in place to make at least 75% of it's intercity mass transit be polutant free.

Kingdom of Hypertrophy is the first country in North America to break away from fossil fuel technology. While all the North American countries rely on fossil fuel to heat homes and power buildings and mass transit. Kingdom of Hypertrophy has been using solar, wind, and nuclear technology since 1974.

However, the only problem is the constant usage of fossil fuel for cars. While we import fuel from Africa, Arabia, and Asian countries the effects of air pollution has been a problem. Kingdom of Hypertrophy is seeking for an energy effecient way of reducing pollutants, while respecting the lifestyle of a driver. Kingdom of Hypertrophy does require smog checks, but that isn't enough. In fact, the nation is seeking for an electric-powered vehicle or a solar power vehicle that can maintain the speed of the current vehicles.

Since 1994, all of mass transit are required to use biofuels, instead of diesel fuels.

In 2001, Geothermal plants were permitted in Hypertrophy and it has cut down the cost of energy by 25%.

In 1997, Coal and Oil Plants have been considered outlawed in Hypertrophy. This was a way to reduce pollution and the cost of importing fossil fuels.

Much more needs to be done in the Kingdom of Hypertrophy
