Re: Day 3
There have been numerous studies that show conclusively that homework is completely useless. The fact that in the 13 years since I left high school, none of these studies have been taken into account by the antiquated and broken system of secondary education is, frankly, ridiculous.
You have my complete and total sympathy in having to devote any time at all to what amounts to an exercise in egotism on behalf of the establishment.

Re: Day 3
Personally I take the attitude of 'If there is no point to it, there is no point in doing it' and just take a demerit, although in my school the only homeworks i tend to get are maths, english lit. and generally finish of the work outlined to be done in class. Maths and english lit are useful homeworks as they essentialy revision for my GCSE exams coming up in 7 weeks time and the other things I consider only important if I find the topic hard.
Coursework on the other hand is a right B*****d, especially since I have chosen 2 out of 5 courses (tech and ICT) with 60% coursework, 2 (Geography and English Literature) more with 30% and the other, Spanish has 20% (compulsory English has 40%, DA nonmod science has 33% all done in school and maths has none). Especially now since all of it is due in for moderation I am starting to have nights working 4pm to 4am. One piece of advice kids - triple backup your work and never put a memory stick in your back pocket and/or sit on it

Re: Day 3
About school killing creativity, Singapore have begun a massive approach of school moulding creativity.
For example, Primary 1 and 2 students (7-8 yrs old) no longer have mid-year and year-end exams. Chinese are now taught without using textbooks only for Primary school, same goes for maths.
In fact, I have a mindset that textbooks will be useless for Primary Schools and Secondary Schools in future for Singapore as Singapore plans to computerise its education approach.
