Day 3 SummitLogo-2

Champions don't just happen, they are made. The men and women we watch in awe and the teams we follow with pride are the result of a lifetime of preparation. Junior sports programs foster the talented individuals in their formative years and build children up to the champions we celebrate. Of course, not every child grows up to win Olympic gold. However, participation in sport improves health and has been shown to prevent depression.

How is your nation's junior sports program organised?

Sports in Ollingdale are a key part of the national curriculum in primary schools and secondary schools. Primary schools (6-11) must teach a minimum of 2 hours Physical Education a week, and must allow the children at least 30 minutes outside per school day. Subjects on the curriculum for Primary PE include: Football, Tag Rugby (m), Netball (f), Cricket, Hockey, Tennis, Badminton, Athletics, Rounders and Swimming.
All of these sports must be taught in a 2-year cycle every 2 years of Primary school. The country has many junior leagues, and a new Government initiative is being set up to promote sports in schools, outside of schools and provide funding for new community sports areas and new leagues for children and adults to compete in.
In Secondary Schools, (11-16), children must do at least 1 and a half hours Physical Education a week and must have a lunch break of at least 1 hour, including eating time. Subjects on the curriculum for Secondary PE include: Football, Rugby, Netball/Basketball, Cricket, Hockey, Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball, Rounders and Athletics. Ollingdale is concerned about rising obesity in the Western Hemisphere, and is fighting obesity with major sport incentives.

In Fornax, all junior sport programs are organized by the government, the schools and the private sponsors.

At every school year, there are several school competitions. The following below are created by the government.
Intercity School Competiton (ICSC): Sporting competitions amongst school within the city metropolitan or town metropolitan limit. Villages are usually grouped together by the population and considered as a city/town representative.
Interstate School Competition (ISSC): The Top Schools of the ICSC compete in a state level.
International School Competition (INSC): The Top Schools of the ISSC compete in an international level.

In addition, the above 3 sporting competitions are further divided to the education level: Primary and Secondary.

For Tertiary and University level, these automatically advance to the INSC according to their education level.

In each schools, all students are required to be a member of one Co-Curriculum Activity (CCA) offered in their school. Under the Sporting category of the CCA, the school team of that CCA represent their school in the various sporting competition.

Not every school offer all sports under their CCA List. Some schools even partner with another school to combine their CCAs together due to intake limit reason in order to kep the CCA growing.

Common sports that are offered in most schools are Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Canoeing and Curling. Other popular sports include Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Athletic, Swimming, Water Polo, Archery, Shooting (both pistol and rifle), Ice Hockey, Cricket, Rugby and Martial Arts.
