Re: Rathlin City 2010
Less private residential, I'd have some more small parks and commercial.
By the university I'd have some high-tech industrial, for the Sports Research or something?

You should put your parc in a really urban area to be more out of the normal bids. Well I like the athelete village, but some more buildings will be nice too (grow it up a bit) Well continue like that

Not too high - remember the helicopters for the events need to fly!

Re: Rathlin City 2010
Some new development pics - the indoor arenas are completed externally, they are now being wired, plumbed and fitted out before decorating and lining work can begin on the indoor pitches/courts etc. Yesterday crowds gathered for an open day on the simlympic park plans and a wee juke at the new finished arenas - VIPs were also given a hard-hat tour inside.
The train station has been started on - I am looking for ideas with what to do with it (tracks/facilities or anything else)
Further towards the current city centre, the original Croft Station from 1957 has been re-modelled and extensively renovated with new lifts, layout, lighting and shelters. Tell me what you think of the retaining walls (would concrete be better?). This station will be the main station serveing the new CBD development.
Any other thoughts/ideas please let me know...

Very, very nice. I like the walls as they are, don't change them.

Re: Rathlin City 2010
More sneak pictures, thanks so far everyone - I really value your constructive criticism.
Main Stadium and new Northern Entrance to car park (Bottom Right)
'Grand Walk' to Main Stadium - this is where the torch will pass up through on the home straight of it's journey
Ok Now is where I need your help!
....
Are these billboards out of place here? Any other suggestions? Links to content?
Should I demolish part of the forest here so that the diagonal pavement line of the car park 'carries over the road' and has more flow? Or keep it sort of symmetrical with the other side (ie South see above posts)?
Cheers,
Neil

I'd keep the billboards near the main road into the Park.

Re: Rathlin City 2010
Towards the sea... there will be the aquatic centre and tennis centre and on the seafront will be high wealth apartments and possibly a marina. On the other sides there will be commercial development, hotels, shopping areas and more medium to high density housing (most likely social housing). I am planning to make the surrond urban, but modern and very green. This whole part of the city is completely new or redeveloped land.
Re: Rathlin City 2010
Wow, nice idea! hope you'll do that as good as you did your main stadium area

Great job Neil, it's going to be an amazing place, even if you don't win.
