Welcome to the 2010 Alliance Cup Awards presentation.
Firstly, the AINHF would like to invite the captain of the Corraile team to accept this award of appreciation. Despite not being the strongest team in the competition, Corraile has done a wonderful job hosting the tournament. As well as some fantastic hockey, Corraile has provided a festival atmosphere and I'm sure everyone will agree that Corraile has given the Alliance Cup a terrific inauguration.
AINHF Appreciation Award - CORRAILE
In every competition, there is one team that shines during the regular season and the Alliance Cup is no different. During pool play, one team scored more goals than any other, proving themselves a formidable opponent. Having scored 53 goals, Petrova is this year's recipient of the Golden Puck award. I would like to invite the captain of Petrova to come forward and accept the Golden Puck.
Golden Puck Award - PETROVA
Of course, there is always a team that does not enjoy such success and finds itself at the bottom of the competition, despite a valiant effort. This year's recipient of the Wooden Spoon Award didn't win a single game. This, however, didn't stop them from playing gallantly and wholeheartedly. I would now like to invite the captain of Lower Columbia to receive the Wooden Spoon on behalf of his team.
Wooden Spoon - LOWER COLUMBIA
You can't have a champion without a runner-up. Today's game pitted two teams against each other and this team held the lead for most of the game. Scoring the first goal within the first minute and holding their opponents scoreless until the second period, before answering the challenge to tie the game at 2 all before the period ended. They dominated the first 2 periods and proved themselves a very tough opponent indeed. I would therefore like to invite the team from Escambia to come forward and receive the Gordie Howe Medal.
Runners-up - ESCAMBIA
And now we come to the moment you've all been waiting for. This team performed brilliantly in pool play and followed that up with some spectacular plays during the playoffs. They came from behind in both the Quater and Semi Finals to win in overtime and today they rallied in the final period, scoring 2 unanswered goals in quick succession to seal the win. Ladies and gentlemen, your 2010 Alliance Cup Champions - ARCACIA!!
