East-West is a low cost all economy subsidiary of Australian Airlines. From it's 2 hubs in Tamworth and Melbourne (Avalon), it flies to holiday destinations around Australia. Direct flights to capital cities are only possible from Tamworth or Avalon. All other inter-capital flights are routed through provincial cities.
The original East-West Airlines was bought out by Ansett in the early 1990s and operations ceased abruptly soon after, leaving a void in the Australian aviation market that to this day has not been filled. The resurrected East-West operates to many of the original destinations.
