The Fornaxian Downfall is a series of events that happened towards the Republic of Fornax in the year 2010 which caused the Republic to suffer both internally and externally.

After about a month's delay, I've just decided to give a timeline of both Fornax Flu and Great Fornax Flood, plus Fornax's entry into the Caroline Union, so that you guys could understand the situation Fornax is in now. These events will be combined

together and will be differentiate by colours. For easy reference, events that happened before my hiatus will also be posted here.

Spy, I hope I didn't get the wrong message across last time if I did. I have no intention of destroying Fornax. These events happen to reduce the unrealistic population count that was brought up by several members of AIN in some AIN Meeting way back.

Initially, I thought of making Fornax join the Caroline Union. But after some thought, I decided not to.

And btw spy, if you post some messages in secret/hidden function, did you know I can see it? But don't worry, I won't reveal it without your permission. If you want, I can PM you my response to your "hidden" message.

National Stockpile
Food from the Fornaxian National Stockpile are now being distributed to the different Emergency Relief Shelters (ERS). There are enough food to last the whole population for at least 4 months. To play on a safe side, Fornax will begin accepting food aids from the donating countries via the city of Abram.

Power and Water
All power facilities nationwide will undergo structural and maintenance checks in order to provide the country with sufficient power supply during its rebuilding course. Water facilities will undergo the same procedures. The destruction of the four Grnadour Dams have affected about 12% of the country's power grid network. Fortunately, the 12% mostly covers the wiped-out Cicone Delata Region.

Fate of Cicone Delta Region
Home to 25% of the people of Fornax, the Cicone Delta Region will take decades to rebuild. After assessing the damages to the Region, close to 40% of the lower course of the Region will be nearly impossible to rebuild. With the failure of the Grandour Dams, about 70% of the original land will be permanently underwater, including the whole Cicone Delta Island.


The map above shows the before (yellow line) and after (green area) profile of the river and coastline. The grey dashed line signifies the maximum extend of the Cicone Delta Metropolita Area.

With the Region being the most important trading centre of the country, Fornax have lost its valuable money-making region.

Fornax Flu
With several factors contributing to the slowing down rate of the number of people infected with the Fornax Flu, the Flu will now go away natural. Amongst the factors are residing flood waters and decreasing number of living flu host. There are still no vaccinations for the Flu.

Leadership of the Country
With the death of President Kenneth Qwerton, Prime Minister Nerrisa Paterson and Deputy Prime Minister Chiu Xue Bai, Second Deputy Prime Minister Jimmy Ratanankorn will be installed Acting Prime Minister of Fornax. Speaker of Parliament, Mao Kwan Fang, will be installed as the Acting President of Fornax.

There will be no elections until the State of Emergency has been declared over. A Provisional Government of Fornax have been set up to run the devastated country. The city of Kace Point has been chosen as the Provisional Administrative Capital. The city of Abram will serve as the welfare centre to provide the people in ERS with welfare needs such as food, water, power, education, health and religious materials.

Using of the Reserves
Acting President Mao Kwan Fang have agreed to let the Government of Fornax to use the National Reserves of an undetermined amount to help rebuild Fornax in all areas.

Fornax Flu
With about 0.8 million living people still infected with Fornax flu, it's a good sign that the flu will be eradicated for now. However, the fatality rate of the flu is rising, currently at 96.8%. So far, no one survived the flu. There are still no vaccinations against the flu.

State of Emergency and Border Control
The State of Emergency will still be in place. The Fornaxian Border will still remain close except for humanitarian reasons.

Post-Disaster Housing
Post-Disaster Housing (PDH) is a makeshift house for evacuees until they could return to their proper house. Each PDH will come with a living hall, bedrooms, a kitchen and a washroom. Each PDH will run on power generators and water pumps connected from governmental utility infrastructures. Gas will be provided by LPG gas cylinders. PDH are free-of-charge.

Construction of PDR have begun across all provinces of Fornax. Top priority are given to families with more than 2 children. People who have houses are that structurally safe are not eligible to stay in PDH unless with proper reasons.

Post-Disaster Social Services
Post-Disaster Social Services (PDSS) is a project to provide social needs to the people such as education and healthcare. Communities with structurally safe schools will begin classes on September 20, 2010. Affected communities will have makeshift schools.

All structurally safe medical instituitions will resume full operation from September 14, 2010 onwards.

Rebuilding Sypogen
Sypogen was selected to be the first city to be rebuilt. Works are underway to clear any water inside the subway system and below-surface roads. Buildings damaged by either the flood or the earthquake are undergoing repairs.
