Day 4 - Le Tour d'Anglet
Today's postcard is from Anglet, Lycanthia
Today, the delegates took a break from diplomacy to tour Lycanthia's capital, Anglet. The day started late, just before lunch with the delegates boarding a bus outside their hotel in Châteauneuf for the short journey into Anglet. The bus pulled up just outside the city proper to give the delegates a close-up view of the city gates.
Then it was onto le Palais de Lycanth, the seat of Lycanthia's government, for a special reception lunch hosted by President Marcel le Bon. The delegates got a crash course in Lycanthian history as they were shown around the centuries old building.
The next stop was le Galerie Nationale de Lycanth, where the delegates were the first to see the latest collection of priceless art works on loan to the gallery from the Louvre in Paris.
After that, a trip to the magnificent Jardin Nationale where the delegates had a tranquil afternoon tea amidst a mixture of native and important plants, trees and flowers, snacking on seasonal fruits and berries grown locally and picked only that morning.
The delegates then walked across the street to the 110 year old l'Amphitheatre d'Anglet, home of l'Orchestre Lycanth, l'Opera Lycanth and le Ballet de Lycanth. A one our show combining the talents of all three was performed for the thrilled crowd. A combination of orchestral and operatic standards, as well as pieces composed by Lycanthia's finest classical musicians was choreographed to both traditional and jazz ballet.
In the last hours of the afternoon, the delegates were taken to le Marché d'Anglet, where they were able to sample fine local produce including cheese, wine, fruit, cooked and cured meats. It was also an opportunity to shop for souvenirs and keepsakes.
The last stop was a tour of the waterfront and marina, capped off with an informal dinner at a retired paddlesteamer that had been converted into a fine seafood restaurant. Once again, it was local produce on the menu. Fresh fish caught that day, fresh shellfish grown locally. Most delegates needed extra time to decide, having been presented with a wide and varied menu.
After a leisurely walk back along the boardwalk, the delegates once again boarded their bus that took them on one last sightseeing tour of Anglet by night, before heading North, back to Châteauneuf, where it returned the delegates back at their hotel.

Thanks! I'm so glad I accidentally erased the original Lycanthia. The new one is so much better.
