Gleannamainiglas (or Glenmaniglas) known as the Green Glen of the Abbey and named accordingly in old irish is located in County Gaveross in the West of Cill Orglan. It is famous for its ruined abbey, believed to be the first christian missionary building in Cill Orglan. Within the Glen there are two small villages - Mainiglas (1/4 mile from the abbey) and Sráidimeallahaille (at the top of glen).
LOCATION: Gleannamainiglas, County Gaveross, Ríocht lárnach (Central Kingdom)
Gleannamainiglas Abbey (Irish: Mainistir Gleannamainiglas), was originally built in 1253 by the order of Maurice Fitzgerald, Cheiftain of the Ríocht lárnach. It was destroyed in 1414 by a fire, ravaged during the Borders War in 1595 and once more in 1791 during the Peastnr Uprising. The friars moved out in the 18th century, but Lord Palmerston - third Lord of Killorglin restored the Abbey in the 1850s. Currently, it is designated a nation monument and can be accessed via a short hike on a gravel path from a car park on the main N3 road.
Parts 2 and 3 will be coming over the next week

Re: Places
Gorgeous update Neil, I love rural Killorglin. I'd love to see some more village updates, and coastal areas - you're really good at them.

Céad Míle Fáilte Cill Orglan
Conal's Crossroads, are where the former main N4 road (now redesignated R444) between Bunratty and Castlefinbar (the town a mile from Killorglin's only airport) and the small local roads - the L375 and L3810 - better known as the Crossmaglen Road and Baileyton Road cross. This small hamlet was once a hive of activity with a small petrol station situated at the front of the Bellevue Arms (Pub), but since the old N4 road was superceeded by Killorglin's first motorway in 2003 this road has fell eerily quiet with only really local and tourist traffic using it.
The location is situated on the Bellevue Bridge, a wide bridge that was future proofed when it was rebuilt in 1963 for the possible widening of the N4 road (hence the wide paths and verge) the Largymore Canal beneath effectively separates Largymore Valley Regional Park (Nature reserve) and some of the best arable land in Killorglin along the Crossmaglen Valley.
This is also the location of Killorglin's rowing club - creatively named, Killorglin Rowing Club.

Bhun Raithe - Governor's Bridge
Sunny Sunday morning along the River Briggan in Bhun Raithe (Bunratty), the capital. Governor's Bridge crosses the River Briggan, linking the major N1 thoroughfares on either bank (Connolly Street city-bound from the Foyle Avenue roundabout on the left to the Linen Hall and O'Hara Street country-bound from the Linenhall to the new Briggan Quarter development further up the river). Also pictured is the Garda Headquarters, the Garda are the national police force of Killorglin, responsible for policing all 'N' roads, motorways, the whole Bunratty Metropolitan area, the airport and at a local level for serious crimes involving serious bodily harm, murder, smuggling, fraud, supply of Class A drugs or any offence involving firearms.
Re: Places
Thanks everyone, that's just a teaser of what is to come in Bunratty.

Re: Places
It actually means no stopping or parking in Killorglin, found usually around schools, ambulance drop off points and Garda stations. That's been lot edited with automata
Cill Orglan | McNally's Glen
McNally's Glen is located just outside of Donaghadee, the southernmost town outside of the gaeltacht (area where only irish is spoken natively). It is on the the River Bush, the only whiskey river in Killorglin from which it's water goes into making the world famous Bushmills whiskey.
Hope you enjoyed my first Killorglin mosaic, if not I can assure you it looks far better with a bottle of this down ye...
