About the Alliance Games Federation

The Alliance Games (Summer and Winter) is an international, multi-sport event involving athletes from the Alliance of Independent Nations.

As well as many Simlympic sports, the Games also include some sports that are played mainly in Alliance countries, such as rugby sevens. The Games are overseen by the Alliance Games Federation (AGF), which also controls the sporting programme and selects the host cities. The host city is selected from across the Alliance, with four cities in four countries having hosted it.

The two main tasks of the Federation are to determine the sports to be competed, and to select the Host City from those that bid for either the Summer or Winter Games.

The federation determines the sports for competition from a list of Core and Optional sports. For a sport to be considered for either of these lists it must first go through an affiliation process, whereby the Federations Governing Committee determines the merits for the sports inclusion on either list.

The most important duty of the AGF is to initiate the bidding process, so that the next host of the Games can be chosen from the Candidate Cities that bid to host the Games. It is also the duty of the Federation to interact daily with the Host of the Games to make sure the results are posted on time and that everything runs smoothly.

The Federation also is the Body that administers the affiliation of the Individual National Alliance Games Associations, so that AIN member states can compete at Alliance Games.

Along with the Alliance Games the Federation is also responsible for the Individual sporting leagues of the Alliance.
