Day 2
First off, I am so so sorry for leaving this summit be for a week or so - a number of important things cropped up in RL and I barely been near my laptop.
Anyway here it is:
DAY 2 - FREE EDUCATION AND HEALTHCARE
1) Does your nation provide free healthcare and education for all?
IF YES -- 2a) How does your nation fund its health and education systems?
IF NO -- 2b) How much is expected off a citizen to pay for healthcare and education in a lifetime?
3) Should the union do more in the way of promoting and providing free healthcare and education for all?
4) Is the situation around free health/education in your nation set to change?
Anyway here it is:
DAY 2 - FREE EDUCATION AND HEALTHCARE
1) Does your nation provide free healthcare and education for all?
- Spoiler:
- Yes - Free Education 4-16, Free Healthcare Birth-Death
IF YES -- 2a) How does your nation fund its health and education systems?
- Spoiler:
- The funding for education and health is solely paid for out of the government's budget, although private companies do invest in these systems through PPP/DFBO schemes (they design, build, fund and operate facilities for a small annual sum and a large bonus at the end of the 20 year contract) and donations. Cancer care is completely funded through Killorglinian cancer charities. Killorglinian citizens between 18-60 also contribute directly to the health/welfare budget through a national insurance scheme requiring their employer to contribute £5 a month out of their wages.
IF NO -- 2b) How much is expected off a citizen to pay for healthcare and education in a lifetime?
- Spoiler:
- N/A (For this question give a separated amount in $USD on aveerage that a citizen in your nation will spend on his education and healthcare)
3) Should the union do more in the way of promoting and providing free healthcare and education for all?
- Spoiler:
- The union should pressure nations not providing this to do so or at least ensure the poorest families can either afford or receive free healthcare and/or education. The union could also set up a fund for these poorer families to pay fopr an education or necessary healthcare.
4) Is the situation around free health/education in your nation set to change?
- Spoiler:
- Many new facilites are being provided through DFBO schemes and as a result of increased spending - orthodontics, optemetry and various other speciailist services will no longer be covered under the national insurance scheme.

- Spoiler:
- Yes - Free Education 4-18, Free Healthcare Birth-Death
IF YES -- 2a) How does your nation fund its health and education systems?
- Spoiler:
- The funding comes entirely from taxes and general government income. A large amount of funding for healthcare improvements comes from profits within Govt-owned corporations.
3) Should the union do more in the way of promoting and providing free healthcare and education for all?
- Spoiler:
- The union should encourage all nations to provide free, universal healthcare and education, as well as assistance for those who can't afford tertiary education. Countries who can't afford to provide free healthcare could be helped by the richer and more charitable nations in the union.
4) Is the situation around free health/education in your nation set to change?
- Spoiler:
- Over the next 10 years healthcare and education will become more expensive, and the profits the Govt makes is likely to be ploughed further into these public services. If the issue of funding was raised, it's likely that the Govt subsidies for university education will be reduced.
