Re: AINvision | Winter 2010 | Illu'a
I'm just waiting on 1 more set of votes. The results will be up by Christmas. After that, there will be a review of AINvision, so the next one does not drag on for an entire month.
This event should have only gone for a week.

Orthodox is 7 January we use Gregorian Calendar for this, just asking as well this is different and well to see that we all have the same date - 25 for Ainvision.

Re: AINvision | Winter 2010 | Illu'a
According to Wikipedia, Christmas is celebrated on :
December 25th
January 6th (in Armenia)
January 7th (in a minority of Eastern Orthodox churches)
Anyway, Ainvision is 25th.

Re: AINvision | Winter 2010 | Illu'a
I'm an Atheist. We celebrate Festivus. It usually happens on the 23rd or 28th of December, sometimes it happens on the 3rd of January, but the general rule of thumb is "Two days before Christmas or whenever the heck we feel like it."
It's really quite a nice little celebration. We all gather around the Festivus Pole, usually an aluminium or steel pole with no decorations on it. Then we have the Feats of Strength, which, in the family home usually consists of the eldest son and father wrestling until one has pinned the other to the ground. If it's among friends, it usually means sack races, three-legged races, a water fight or pillow fight (depending on the climate) and generally horsing around.
After that, usually over the meal, is the Airing of Grievances. That is when everyone has a turn at telling everyone else exactly what they really think of them.
Just like Christmas, the whole family hates each other by the end.

I'd hate an atheist Christmas. No midnight mass, no pregnant aunt's waters breaking, no emergency defrosting of the turkey in the microwave, no hangover, no bomb scare, no melt of young children and no trading laws. I just couldn't do it.
Go switch on your winter lights and sing festive songs...

It's gonna take a bit of extra time to get the results up as some people (read: most of you) seem to have been completely bamboozled by the rather simple voting instructions and I have to go through and completely recalculate them.

Re: AINvision | Winter 2010 | Illu'a
I'm having a bit of an issue with my internet connection at the moment. I have exceeded my daytime download limit, so I have to wait for off-peak, which is 2am-8am. The results should be up in the next day or two.

Re: AINvision | Winter 2010 | Illu'a
The results will have to wait until January 2nd at least. As it turns out, I have exceeded my entire download limit for the month, including off-peak. So, my internet connection is back to 1995 standards, which is ridiculous.
I am unable to upload anything and it takes forever to load a web page, if it loads at all.
So, I'm taking my leave until the next cycle starts, which is January 2nd. Until that happens, I'm essentially paralysed.

Re: AINvision | Winter 2010 | Illu'a
Sorry! I was hoping to post it by Christmas, but life took over and I have been very busy. Truth be told, I haven't had a day to myself. First Christmas and Boxing Day, then New Years and today I had Festivus.
I'll have it up and done with by the end of tomorrow. Promise. If I'm lying, may we all be horribly crushed from above somehow.

Well, if it's not up by the end of tomorrow, you will be horribly crushed from above. By me.

Re: AINvision | Winter 2010 | Illu'a
Don't you threaten me! Get off my lawn! If there's any crushing from above to be done, it will be done by the asteroid, discovered yesterday, on a collision course with Earth that will be hitting somewhere in Surrey tomorrow around 3pm. Enjoy your cup of tea, Thomas!
(Side note - I was actually sworn to secrecy by NASA about the whole asteroid-blowing-up-the-planet-and-ending-all-life-as-we-know-it thing, so if you could all keep it under your hats, you'd be doing me a real solid.)
