The Hellenic Federal Republic, or unofficially the Hellenic Federation, Macedonia or Northern Greece, is a country located in South-Eastern Europe. It has a population of 5,521,845 and is located within the region of Geographical Macedonia and takes up about 25% of the entire territory of the region of Macedonia. Its capital city is Thessaloniki. The main language is Standard Modern Greek, spoken by an estimated 99% of the population. Other languages include Bulgarian and Turkish. It has been a member of the EU since 1981 and of the SCJU since 2009.

The Federation is divided into 8 Peripheries, the equivalent of a US State, all of which are largely self-governing. The Federal Legislature is called the Hellenic Senate, which is unicameral, and is composed of 92 senators, 11 from each Periphery plus 4 minority senators (3 Bulgarian and 1 Turkish). The Federal Government is led by the Hellenic Liberal Party in coallition with the Hellenic Democratic Party. The last elections were held on 19 July 2010. 27-year-old Marcus Rausing-Saripanidis serves as Prime Minister and the President of the Republic is Vasilios Papamichail, elected by the Hellenic Senate on 15 November 2006.

With $35,680 GDP Per Capita, the Hellenic Federation has a highly industrialized economy but is also dependent on the 11.8 million international tourists that visit the country annualy. Aeolus Aerospace, which acquired the Vercelli-owned Seros Aerospace last year, is one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world and currently produces the world's largest aircraft: the double-decker, five-engine, 900-seater AE-900. The Hellenic Federal Republic is also a prominant merchant navy power and currently holds a registry of almost 3000 ships, second only to the merchant navy of Greece. and together they make up an astonishing 30% of the global merchant navy.

The Hellenic Federation is a welfare state, providing public education and public healthcare to its citizens on all levels. Since the only reason the Federation broke away from Greece in 1917 was ideological, the country greatly differs from the more conservative countries in the Balkans. The Hellenic Federation was the first republic to be created in the Balkans and has since legalized gay marriage, polygamy and other controversial topics that it deems should rest with the individual and not the state. It is also very strict in separating the Greek Orthodox Church from the state.

The history of the Federation spans well over 15,000 years. It is most famous for being the birthplace of persons such as Phillip II of Macedon, Alexander the Great and Aristotle. Both capitals of the ancient Macedonian Kingdom are located within the Federation, as well as the home of the Greek gods: Mount Olympus. In roman years, Thessaloniki quickly became the largest city in east Europe and when the Byzantine Empire was founded it became its first capital, but it was moved to Constantinople 5 years later. The city retained the title Co-Queen of the Empire until it fell to the Ottoman Empire in 1420. It was briefly held by the Republic of Venice. It was liberated by the Kingdom of Greece in 1912 and gained independence in 1917 under the name New Greece. It was part of the Hellenic Confederation, a union of the Kingdom of Greece and New Greece, but the union was dissolved in 1923, when the Federation got its present name. It has been locked in a bitter dispute with the Republic of Macedonia since 1992.

The Flag of the Hellenic Federation first appears in the wrightings of Greek Revolutionary Rigas Ferreos in the late 1770s and was the first flag used to openly represent an independent Greece and was also the first flag to be raised in the Greek Revolution in 1821 in Wallachia, modern-day Romania. It consists of three three horizontal stripes of black, white and red, symbolizing determination, freedom and sacrifice. Despite common misconception, it predates the flag of the German Empire by 100 years. The national emblem was inspired by the Ancient Greek ideals, although the ceremonial version (with six flags and laurel wreaths) appears more frequently and on passports. Hymn to Freedom is the national anthem, and also of Greece and Cyprus, and My Federation is the federal anthem.

We also invite a delegation from the Hellenic Federal Republic to the Bhun Raithe Winter Assembly of Atlantic and European nations - a summit and winter ball taking place next week.
