Christchurch Aftershock
CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE AFTERSHOCK
Tuesday 22 February, 2011.
The city of Christchuch, Canterbury has felt the worst aftershock in weeks
after a approx. 6.3 magnitude quake rocked the city.
Approx. 5km in depth and 5km from the epicenter,
the city is left in total devastation, now with casualties which are still left
unknown. Buildings are now in an even worst condition with floor
after floor buildings destroyed and collapsed. Roads have cracked
and liquefaction has caused the land around the city to soften
and obviously liquefy.
Striking at 1 pm this afternoon, standard NZ time, has left
many terrified, never wrecked.
Local Icons like the Christchurch Cathedral have been
totaled, leaving several civilians left trapped inside.
More news, search Christchurch Earthquake and
go to tv3.co.nz for more information.
This earthquake was found to worse than the 7.1 quake in September 2010.

Re: Christchurch Aftershock
It's horrific. Simply horrific. Christchurch is such a beautiful city and to be hit by a disaster this large seems totally unfair.

Re: Christchurch Aftershock
This is truly shocking and I'm really sad to hear that this has happened to such a wonderful city, and country. My grandparents have very fond memories of their trip to Wellington and Christchurch.
From watching the news this morning, it's clear that the everyone here in Britain feel so sorry for you. We're very lucky that we don't suffer earthquakes here.

Jo - I think role play in this case, even well intentioned role play, is in poor taste.

Re: Christchurch Aftershock
1 Irish national confirmed dead.
I have the deepest sympathies for the people of Christchurch, and New Zealanders in general at this time.
Thoughts are with the bereaved families and the relatives of those injured and missing.
