Providence International Airport Empty Re: Providence International Airport

Post by Daniel 23rd April 2011, 04:31

Daniel - rather than doing that, I have listed the maximum wingspan allowed in each gate. Before choosing a gate, check that your aircraft's wingspan is not too wide for the gate.

And yes, unfortunately Providence cannot accept A380s at this time.

Kevin - The Arcacian Airports Authority has decided to grant Corraile Airlines use of gate 4 for the Centreburg flight as requested. Despite a 3.6 hour turnover time (3 slots), Corraile Airlines will only be charged the gate fees for 90 minutes (1 slot), as it has been decided by a meeting between the Arcracian Airports Authority and the Minister for Tourism that the Centreburg flight is of great importance to Arcacian tourism and every effort will be made to accommodate it.

Centreburg @ Providence will take like 19 hours of flight.

I won't like to be siting 19 hours in a plane. Well sincerely, I would like to Laugh

You said the gate 1 was occupied for your skycruise. Well what is the plane you're using? 'cause you might be able to change it to another location and use the gate 1 for A380 since it looks like it can fit it?

Hey Daniel, the A330 services have to be moved to a bigger gate, since an A330's wingspan is past 60m

Providence International Airport Empty Re: Providence International Airport

Julien - not gonna happen. That part of the terminal was designed specifically for Skycruiser. Inside the gate is a massive first class lounge area. Moving Skycruiser to another gate is not possible.

There is currently speculation that there will be a second terminal built on the current GA apron. If that goes ahead, it is likely that Skycruiser will operate from it. If it goes ahead, this thread will be updated with the details of the new terminal. As it stands, it is likely that it will happen, with the GA apron moved to the other side of the runway.

There are currently 3 proposals being looked at. Option 1 is as I have described, building a second terminal. Option 2 involves expanding the existing terminal. Option 3 involves replacing the existing terminal with 2 terminals.

A recent plebiscite asking whether Providence Airport needed to expand returned a 78% yes vote. Senate is now debating which of the 3 plans to go with. This will then need to be approved by referendum and subsequently by the President. An answer is expected within days, however. In the meantime, we'll just have to make do.

Kevin - The only option I can think of is for you to have gate 4 for all three services. As they don't overlap, it shouldn't be a problem.

Providence International Airport Empty Re: Providence International Airport

Post by Daniel 24th April 2011, 05:26

Good news, everyone!

Arcacian ingenuity and a can-do spirit has resulted in the completion of not 1, but 2 new terminals! The old GA apron has been completely transformed:

Providence International Airport PortProvidence-2Mar001303616088

Providence International Airport PortProvidence-2Mar001303614972

Providence International Airport PortProvidence-2Mar001303615006

Terminal 2, the big chunky one, is Skycruiser's new home. That means that Gate 1 is now available to accept aircraft up to and including the A380! But wait, there's more! As T2 has 2 gates, it means that each of the 2 Skycruisers has it's own dedicated gate. As they don't use them for most of the day, they are also available for use by aircraft up to and including the A380!

Terminal 3, the slender L-shaped one, is for small, regional flights and private jets. Gates 25 and 26 will mainly be used for overflow from Gates 18-21. The gates can handle aircraft up to the 737 or equivalent, but will rarely do so. Gate 24 can take anything up to a Dash-8 Q400. Gate 26A (to the immediate right of Gate 26, not shown on map) is for private jets only.

A dedicated Metro Subway line connects all three terminals for ease of transfer.

Despite half the apron now taken up by terminals, general aviation has actually improved with the construction of extra hangars and tie-downs.

Isn't it exciting?!

Reservations may now be made for Gate 1 using the form in the original post. Reservations for Terminal 2 (Gates 22 and 23) can also be made, but only for times that do not conflict with Skycruiser operations. Overnight parking at Terminal 2 is not permitted.

Available times for T2 are:
Gate 22: 1700 - 2230 (except Tuesday, Friday & Saturday)
Gate 23: 1100 - 2230 (except Tuesday, Friday & Saturday)

Priority is given to Skycruiser. If Skycruiser is delayed, you may be directed to another gate. If no other gate is available, aircraft will need to wait on the tarmac until a gate opens up.

No bookings for terminal 3 are being taken at this time.

Please refer to updated terminal map at beginning of thread.
