Nation of Culture: Cattala
As Cattala is the very first Nation of Culture, I decided to open an entire thread that will be an example for future nations that wish to become Nations of Culture. This scheme means that nations which don't show Simcity 4 images regularly can remain active and fully participate in the City Journal area.
Many of these posts will include images and details from the recent Expo and from the Alliance Wiki - so I apologise if you feel that you have already read about these things before, or seen the images previously. There will be some changes and new things though, so keep your eyes on this thread!

Re: Nation of Culture: Cattala
The first royal household of Cattala was the Celestine family. Roger Celestine became King of Cattala in the final years of the 10th century, and ruled until 1021 AD. His family ruled over the united island for the next 800 years - defeating rebellions, uprisings and jealous lords and knights to keep control of their crown. The Kings and Queens that succeeded Roger ruled with strength and determination from within their regal city of Celestine, and built palaces and forts across the island to protect themselves and their citizens. An example of one of the fort's that still stands today is below.
The Celestine's rule was ended by the colonial era, but they returned to the throne in 1918 following a revolution against their Italian leadership. Their triumphant re-emergence as rulers of Cattala was short-lived - the entire family was executed by Italian fascists in World War Two.
After the Second World War, Marco Bonnecelli, the grandson of King Harold Celestine's youngest daughter, was crowned King following a referendum to bring back the monarchy. He had been living in London since 1938, and returned to become the first monarch from house Bonnecelli.
His son, King Roger, took the throne in 1963 and never married. Therefore there was no heir, and his sister, Elizabeth, became Queen at the age of 60.
Elizabeth's son George, her natural successor, had died in a car accident in 1986, when his three children were aged 11, 9 and 3. His daughter, Alexandra became the youngest monarch in 500 years when she ascended to the throne at the age of 19. She spent the seven years before her death raising her granddaughter, Alexandra, to become Queen.
Alexandra was engaged to her childhood friend Luciano Vaas when she became Queen, and married him two months after her coronation. She gave birth to her first son, Edward, in December of 1994. Controversially, it emerged that she had conceived Edward before her marriage. Alexandra gave birth to Helena in 1997 and Louis in 2000, and her sister, Gabriella, acted as Regent between 1995 and 2002 whilst Alexandra raised her children. This is normal in Cattalian royalty - several Queens have had Regents act on their behalf for their entire reign in the past.
Cattala has had equal primogeniture since the accession of Queen Elizabeth of Almae to the throne in 1987. She made it a personal insistence that male primogeniture was abolished. Cattala had used a system of male primogeniture, where the male heir ascends to the throne before any female heir, since the 15th century. The introduction of equal primogeniture was highly popular amongst the public and was approved by the Queen and both houses of Parliament within 6 months of Queen Elizabeth raising it at a dinner event.

Re: Nation of Culture: Cattala
Remember that this is an example of what the Nation of Culture would be producing - some of it is repeated from the Expo (although if you check carefully it has changed in parts) and for NoC's in the future that is unlikely to happen.

To end Cattala's time as Nation of Culture, here is what we will be looking out for when we see the first nation of culture next month:
Religion
These are just suggestions and ideas. Education, religion, history, arts, cuisine - all ideas you could incorporate to make your nation more real and more deep. So apply for October and begin making your nation great!
