Union Fees and Union Budget
Following the union GDP data, which was provided by nearly all nations in the Monetary Statistics Bureau thread, I can now reveal the amount of money paid by each national government to the AIN Government for the financial year 2011-12. Currently the total budget allowance for 2011-12 is:
US $80,200,862,500.00
And this is exactly 0.25% of the AIN's Gross Domestic Product. Every single AIN nation that provided it's GDP figures for us will now paying exactly 0.5% of the provided GDP to fund the Executive offices, Ministries, Events, Elections, administration and contingency funds. The exact amount to be provided to each area hasn't been decided yet, but a decision will be made in the coming weeks. Then, the Union Budget for 2011-12 will go to the Parliament to be voted on by the union.
Here is a list of the fees to be paid by each country of the union on the 1st January 2012:
If anyone has any questions or queries before this goes to vote in a few weeks, don't hesitate to PM me or post below. If you haven't posted your GDP or your country isn't featured here yet, please check the Monetary Statistics Bureau thread on page 2 for the list of nations who haven't posted their GDP in that thread or on their wiki's.

So essentially this means I have to pay 5 billion dollars to the AIN Government?

You have to pay $5 billion dollars on the 1st January 2012 towards the costs of running each AIN ministry, office and administration.

It's 0.5% of your GDP, it's less than most civilised countries spend on overseas aid... except America.

Re: Union Fees and Union Budget
How will we pay the contribution? It is automatic or we have to say something? Are there any time limits to pay or we have all to pay 1st january without exception?
By the way, nice work Thomas!

Re: Union Fees and Union Budget
Once this, and the union budget itself, goes through the parliament then it will be an automatic transaction on the 1st January. Since most nations it is the start of the financial year in January, that will be when the payment is made.
I presume poorer nations could agree a monthly fee with the Ministry if they so wish.

Re: Union Fees and Union Budget
The opinion of the Finance Minister of the Orange Free State is that larger alliance countries should make larger contributions for the alliance, since their economies are larger and more able to such programs. Asking for everybody to pay a 0,5% fee is indeed sharing the cost, but the 0,5% deduction of GDP will significantly cut back the economic growth potential of smaller member states, than larger member states.

Financial Minister of Orange Free State
How do we find this out? GDP is only a measure of the size of the economy, not the health. (For example Luxembourg's GDP is 18% of Greece's, and who's having the economic meltdown?)Thomas wrote:I presume poorer nations could agree a monthly fee with the Ministry if they so wish.

Re: Union Fees and Union Budget
First point: I would be willing to look at increasing the amount paid by the top ten nations and reducing the amount paid by the smallest nations, if it had popular support.
Second point: Any country that wishes to pay monthly amounts instead of a lump sum on the first of January 2012 should request to do so below.

I would support the first point. =]
And I think a monthly payment would be better for us, also.

Edge: Exaletas can make monthly payments on the first of the month starting January 1st 2012. The total payment required each month currently stands at $3,375,000 for Exaletas.
Will: The full payment or a monthly one? Monthly installments for Meridiania are $227,116,666.67. (that's 227 million)

Re: Union Fees and Union Budget
What exactly do we get for our money? Where does it all go? Who gets it?
These are the questions I'm going to have to answer. Opinion on the AIN is fairly firmly split down the middle in Arcacia and fairly negative in Lycanthia. A revelation like this is enough to have people out on the streets! "Occupy Providence" they'll say!

Arcacia will pay in full via electronic transfer from the Reserve Bank of Arcacia during business hours on Monday 7 November 2011.

Re: Union Fees and Union Budget
Coincidentally and nothing to do with Arcacia's threats to declare bankruptcy, the Union Budget has been halved to $80bn and all payments have been halved in price.
