AIN Democracy Index

The Democracy Index is an index compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit that claims to measure the state of democracy in 167 countries, of which 166 are sovereign states and 165 are UN member states. The Economist Intelligence Unit's Democracy Index is based on 60 indicators grouped in five different categories: electoral process and pluralism, civil liberties, functioning of government, political participation and political culture. The Index was first produced in 2006, with updates produced in 2008 and 2010.

I have read throught the 60 indicators :study: , and, and made took away the hard questions out (13)


The five category indices, which all are listed in the report, are then averaged to find the democracy index for a given country. Finally, the democracy index, rounded to one decimal, decides the classification of the country, as quoted:

Full democracies—scores of 8 to 10.
Flawed democracies—scores of 6 to 7.9.
Hybrid regimes—scores of 4 to 5.9.
Authoritarian regimes—scores below 4.

What is important is to stay honest about your nations, I know you are the "Silent Dictator" and you like your nations very much, but please be honest
Note : Political party or regime(Capitalist, Democratic Republic, Socialist, Socialist Utopia) does not directly affect the result

You do realise how high 9.5 and 9.7 is, right? Personally I take it with a pinch of salt that a country could be as close to perfection as Shushtrepistaz and Syldavia claim to be.

When you consider that all the top seven are Western states that are either ANZAC or Scandanavian - that can't be a coincidence, and the fact that eastern states are scoring so highly seems even more unrealistic to me.

For the most part, the first world countries have high numbers and the not-so-first world countries have lower numbers.

For clarification on my high score, I would need to write an essay (which is in progress) on how Killorglian economy/government works. However the only places where Killorglin honestly falls on the index is not allowing the extreme right/neo-nazis/fascists a political platform, the lack of privately owned media (however the media is controlled through democratically organised unions of journalists and broadcasters, not the legislative branch or executive) and some restrictions on 'profitable' religions (such as Scientology or other for-profit 'enterprise religions') - religious freedoms for established religions that require no 'membership fee' (voluntary donations are acceptable) exist to the fullest extent.
