Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
Welcoming Ceremony
(Live at the Trolagar Performing Arts Center, San Prado)
Welcome, friends from far and near, to an exciting fourteen days of the 2nd AIN Summit! Countries from around the world have traveled here to the beautiful city of San Prado. Now to the sound of internationally famed artist Pink’s “So What”, let’s meet the elite countries of AIN!
And now, please welcome our main speaker for the evening: Petrovar Chancellor Madame Eliska Munrova.
Ma Munrova: Komostavos. I welcome you all to my home, Petrova as we kick off the official second AIN summit. We have lots to talk about, but at the same time, we are al here to have fun.
Upon arriving to the city via car shuttles, courtesy of Transov Shuttles, our international guests were treated to a royal welcome by our friendly San Prado community. Our guests stayed at several mansions within the city.
While in San Prado, our guests toured and shopped at the famed Malakthi Shopping District. They also toured the San Prado’s city hall, where they met with the mayor and had an extravagant lunch with.
Our guests also toured parts of the country, including Chihiro, Avenida Vista, Predeccia, Azovo and Brytyavska. They also got to watch the anticipated Petrolympics in Ordona, where the 2009 Petrova Simlympic Team will be traveling to Leah, PI.
The second summit will be quite different from last time, in terms of the format and schedule. Each day, there will be about two or three topics that we will be discussing. Then, on day 7 through 9, our guests have the platform to suggest or talk about issues, concerns, questions or ideas that they have. After that, a new feature, polls will be in use in this summit. Each topic will have its poll thread and we will be voting on the ideas or plan that we favor or find will help further make our union successful. Voting will be going on from day 10 to 13. Finally, on day 14 will be the farewell ceremony as well as the revealing of the votes.
Well, without further ado, I now officially open this summit! Please enjoy the remainder of the evening with more musical performances!
AIN Embassies
AIN has become a community of players who share the same values and interests with one another, so naturally would their respective countries. Establishing embassies with fellow AIN member countries would help further strengthen that bond with the countries.
What is your input on AIN embassies and how should we go on implementing them?
AIN Headquarters
Another thing we should think about are headquarters of AIN in each country. AIN headquarters would be places to help maintain regulations and organization throughout the union.
Should we have headquarters in every member country or region of the world?

Embassies: I Personally think every AIN country should have an embassies in each AIN Nation. I think this would tie in very well for a AIN headquarters in every nation. If each nation had a headquarters this would allow each nation to send an ambassador to that nation and work that nations AIN headquarters. Currently in Escambia i do have AIN Headquarters for Escambia built. But since technically we have no embassy relations it sets vacant right now.
Also i think we need a Main AIN headquarters somewhere in an AIN Nation. Since It would be unfair just to choose a nation. Say like giving it to Matt in Tongolia since he is our leader shouldnt be the way we go about it. Either we have a union wide vote for the AIN Main headquarters and the nation that wins will build the headquarters in there nation. And maybe we choose a building of STEX or LEX for it so its more of an identity for us. OR we have nations bid to have the AIN Headquarters, and then we vote as union for those who bidded.

I agree 100% with all that. Id say for the AIN Main headquarters we should having bidding and then we vote as a union. That would work most likely better than just have a plain vote, cause we might be forcing someone to have the headquarters that doesn't want it

Ok, well first off let me say great job Peter on an opening to the summit, well planned and you executed it well. Congrats you're hard work has payed off for this summit and it was well done. Onto the first issues
AIN Embassies
Ok for this I see a few possible solutions and a few problems resulting from Embassies that new to be addressed.
Right now we have 2 systems suggested from earlier discussion
AIN Centers- 1 Large building that will host all AIN Embassies in your country. It would be a large building (or small complex of buildings) surrounded by all AIN Flags from Nate's Flag Pack. See below for an example
Pro's:
-1 Building, we use up less for our embassies, sadly there are only so many good buildings on the STEX that we can use and if we use a dozen or so if not more for embassies then that's 1 dozen less buildings we can use in our cities for other things.
-Easier to add nations to the embassies, all we need to do is add the flag once Nate Makes it.
-Also less room is used, most of our countries are small enough as it is, if we give at least 12 nations there own embassy... that's a considerable amount of space used in our cities.
Con's:
-Less realistic, as we've seen in the Sim World War countries even within the AIN fight against each other, you're not gonna have 2 countries at was sharing an embassy. Sorry it's just not realistic.
-We loose the identity of each country, you don't get the identity of each country coming through in there embassy. It'd be nice to see Perthshire's asian, Escambia's south american, Petrova's Easter European and Novland's western European flair come through (just examples) there embassies.
Individual Embassies- Each Nation will have it's own embassy in everyone's country. The Embassy design would be picked by the user of the country that it represents, ie; I'll pick Perthshire's, Nate will pick Escambia's etc.
Pro's:
-Realistic, in every country in the world there is some sort of Embassy for every other nation.
-If things get iffy with nations it can be used as an RP tool that the AIN Center idea wouldn't allow.
-Gives us an outlet to show the culture of our nation a little more
Con's:
- Time consuming, it's gonna take a while to build all these buildings in our cities.
-Space consuming, it's gonna take about half a small city tile if you're really really conservative in your design choices to fit all of our embassies. That's a fairly decent amount of space for this if you ask me.
- Build Consuming, we only have so many buildings on the STEX to use, and this would deplete that stock pile greatly.
AIN HQ
When I suggested this after poking around the COFR site my idea of this was to have a main building in Matt, Nate or Peter's country that acts sort of as the administrative building for the AIN. It wouldn't have more than a symbolic usage. The Embassies or AIN centers would act as the nation to nation relations and the AIN HQ would act as more of a Union-Union relations area.

Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
@Dljrfn2000: Thanks! I wasn't sure if people would like the opening, I wanted to make a different opening, since I think that the usual opening ceremony with the fireworks at the end is starting to get overused. So I did a concert-like opening to celebrate the union's gathering.
Now, the issues of the day:
AIN Embassies. I think that we should have embassies of individual AIN members in our cities. I like the idea of "the Embassy design would be picked by the user of the country that it represents, ie; I'll pick Perthshire's, Nate will pick Escambia's etc..." But at the same time, for those with tiny countries, say Athkova(yet to be made), should have the option of having an AIN center, as a tiny country in a real world won't be having as much embassies as a bigger country like Escambia or Perthshire would have.
AIN HQ. I agree with liveblue in that we should have bidding sessions, and I think it should be per region of the world. One from Europe, Asia, Africa, N. America, S. America, Space, Oceania, and other regions. Or maybe our AIN HQ could be the AIN Center.

Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
personally, i think we should have maybe individual embassies in the capital/largest city in a country, and then an ain center in any other important cities as the creator sees fit.
Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
My biggest sticking point is that we just don't have the buildings or the space to do it, think about it, how many countries are in the AIN? A lot and if we increase membership that's only more we have to use. As I said the STEX isn't this endless line of buildings, there is only so much we can use and only so many 'good' buildings that we can use for our embassies and then for other things like Convention Centers and housing etc.

Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
I agree with the issue you brought up dljrfn about the buildings. I wish that we could have an exclusive committed BATter who would be willing to make us unique AIN buildings. :dream:

Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
makes two of us, but until the day comes that we can recruit what's his name over at Simsports to join us and be an exclusive user or until I get much much better at Gmax the best option is to just build the one building so we don't deplete our resources and then if we can get a BATer reopen the idea.

Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
I just woke up this morning to find out I'm banned from COFR. -_-
I will personally investigate how did this happen in the first place and I might ask you guys several questions.
Otherwise, that's not a big issue cuz I know I'll be banned from COFR soon enough.
Anyway, back to the summit:
I'm fine with having Embassies and Headquarters. Maybe the Headquarters should be placed at certain region, not every country.
For the embassies, I know that it is important to have embassies of every AIN nation. But that doesn't mean a building by itself. I'm sure that, in every country, embassies can either take up a big space with only one building or just consulates in which it takes up several storeys of a particular office building. Embassies, after all, doesn't have to be a building by itself.

Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
I think a lot of people misunderstand what I've suggested.
The AIN Center, like I have in Perthshire would act as an embassy for all AIN nations. I like the fact that it still allows me several other buildings to use for other purposes in Perthshire. The AIN Center is not the HQ. When I suggested an HQ it was based of the COFR idea where Philly_boy, as much of an elitist as he is, has a large building in his nation that serves as the symbolic center point for the COFR, while also including other embassies in his nation.
The way I envisioned the set up ideally is this.
Each country has an AIN Center, this will serve as the embassies for all AIN countries within your country. (If the rest of the AIN would rather we have separate embassies I'm open to debating the pro's and con's to that)
Then either the Admins, or just Matt, or just one of the Admin's would get a second building the AIN HQ to put in there city as sort of a symbolic headquarters of the AIN. I'm not really for giving it to regional set ups because it looses the specialness of having the HQ.

Lol we didnt misunderstand you dljrfn. I myself suggested we could use the AIN Center as the HQ, if we were going to do individual embassies..... But that was just an idea

Embassies: I think we should have embassies for each AIN country because like dljrfn said it's wouldn't be very realistic if two countries were at war and they were sharing the same building for their embassy.
HQ: I like the HQ idea. I think we should have one in each of the admins countries.

Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
Right now, I think we're pretty much in agreement with the HQ, should be in either Matt or the Admin's countries. Or by regional representation.
The embassies I think are more up for debate and desicion. Can we sort of tack these onto sort of an end of summit debate before voting? Because there are both pro's and con's to both sides of the issue. I'd like to explore those a little more as a group before going to a vote on that.

Re: Day 1: Welcome Presentation, Embassies and HQ
agreed. we will can speak about that now, or during the three open discussion days. I think that since day 1 is over we should talk about it during the open discussion days since usually those days are empty and today we have a busy schedule of things to talk about.
but now that im here, I think that the embassies should be at the discretion of the person themselves, but embassies should be required.
