Headquarters of AIN
From our last major summit in September, members have voted on the AIN Center as the official headquarters of AIN. However, there is still a debate on where it should be located and what should be in it. As for embassies, it is up to the discretion of the individual member nations whether it be one complex or separated embassies. So, the AIN Center and nation embassies are two different things.
The headquarters of AIN is favored to be in Tongolia, the country that founded it. The problem is, Tongolia doesnt have an active CJ, and the HQ needs to be in an active CJ. However, we need to discuss what the building should look like, what should be in it and if we all agree that it should be bult in Tongolia(the vote was 47% to 53%). Any thoughts?

I agree that we should have bids for it. Arcacia won't be bidding, though. There simply isn't enough space in Providence.

Ok, so we'll vote on whether we should bid or not in the chamber of intelligence section in a bit, but what about the building? I think that it should be custom made and not from the STEX or Maxis. I know we have some talented BATers like nate or max So guys, what do you think of making an AIN HQ building?

I like that idea, though I'm all for someone else doing it. I might be a scientist in real life, but I can't get my head around BAT. Calculus, algebra, trigonometry, geometry - all a doddle. BAT makes me crazy.

ohhh, all of a sudden your nickname makes sense. im guessing your somewhere in the aerospace sciences?
Re: Headquarters of AIN
Oh, I remember year 8. It was 1993 and Australia was still 3 years away from getting the internet and.... okay. I'm old. I just realised you probably weren't even born then. *looks at self in mirror and laments lost youth*
Astronomy is one of those funny subjects. It's very broad. I'm actually a planetary scientist. I can tell you just about anything you need to know about orbital dynamics, atmospheric composition, tectonics, habitability etc. But BAT still does my head in.

So do you think that there's a planet, or moon for that matter that could support life?

Re: Headquarters of AIN
Absolutely. Think about this:
In this galaxy there are approximately 200 billion stars.
There are about 200 billion galaxies.
If only 1% of stars have planets (the real percentage is much, much higher) and only 1% of those are habitable, then there are 200 million habitable planets in this galaxy alone. Multiply by 200 billion for the number of habitable planets in the universe.
This number does not take into account habitable moons.
How many habitable planets have advanced civilisations is another matter. Best estimates for our galaxy put the number at around 10,000.
I actually did a podcast about this for the 365 Days of Astronomy. If you want to hear it, open iTunes and subscribe to the 365 Days of Astronomy podcast, look for July 4, 2009. You can also visit my blog which has the transcript, shownotes and links: New World Ordered

Re: Headquarters of AIN
i think we should also having bidding. Only makes sense to have a active CJ hold the head quarters to AIN

I agree with Saathoff.
Re: Headquarters of AIN
Yes, it would make a lot of sense to have bids.
Whoe exactly can bid? Full members or everyone?

Re: Headquarters of AIN
bidding will be great! But: Is AIN like UN, hmm, cuz it's a community and also, there's Heaquarters in 2 cities around the world (New York City and Genève, Suisse *French side of Swiss*)
