Re: Kendall, the Royal Capital
That university is actually part of JBSimio's University of Clayhurst.
Re: Kendall, the Royal Capital
It's been entirely too long since I last posted anything in here...
I'm once again using the Osturland Citadel Palace as Kendall Palace (the official name of the capital's royal palace; palaces in Lower Columbia are typically named after their locations), now that I know that it can fit on an eight-cell-wide lot. I also decided to add a square in front of the palace.
A new public housing project next to the R-3, with the House of Parliament to the west. These two lots by themselves added about 40,000 residents to central Kendall's population!

Talk about a depressing sight (not your work, but the tenements). Apart from that, your North American CJ can outdo mine by at least 10 times

how could I have missed all of this?! That custom roundabout is amazing, and the tenements are a nice new touch to your city.

Re: Kendall, the Royal Capital
Thank you all so very much! I'm glad you love my work so much.
Salem Theatre is Kendall's oldest major performing arts venue, having been built in the 1840s. While the nearby Kendall Cultural Center and Fitzsimmons Square's Royal Opera House have larger auditoriums, this theater has a sense of 19th-century grandeur that those newer venues lack. It remains a popular choice for the city's theatergoers, especially for foreign dignitaries and the royal family.
I've never showed a mosaic of Kendall facing this way or showing the gardens of Kendall Palace... until now. This mosaic also shows the northern part of Kendall's CBD, which is still a long way from looking like I want it (too many Maxis buildings for my taste). Still, now you can see where many of Kendall's landmarks are relative to each other.

Re: Kendall, the Royal Capital
The combination of all the architecture is wonderful - I especially like the park leading up to the Palace and the railway line. I can actually imagine being in a city like Kendall.

Thank you all very much!
Kendall isn't all parkland and glamor (though you probably already knew that because of the various public housing projects I've shown). Just to the north of the capital lies Pelargir-upon-Columbia, Lower Columbia's largest container seaport. This port was built in stages beginning in the 1960s, as containerized shipping came to replace the kind of break-bulk shipping that Port Nyhaven specialized in. Kendall's main industrial district sprawls around the port facilities.
(What the - are those trees growing through the highway?!)
I'm assuming you mean the semicircular one, which is the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. If I'm wrong, please let me know which building you really meant.Dryan wrote:Where do you get the large white building near the marriot hotel?

Re: Kendall, the Royal Capital
Thank you all very much! Huston, I'll answer your question when it isn't midnight here
After building the Capitol area in Vancouver, I thought it looked grander than the Parliament area in Kendall, and I wasn't happy about that. So, I decided to try replacing the BAT I was using for the Houses of Parliament with the Hungarian Parliament building, which forced me to change some things around in order to make it fit. I thought I'd show you the results and let you tell me whether the new Parliament house and its surroundings look better than they used to.
First, here's how the area used to look:
Now for a close-up of the new building. I haven't made a custom lot for this BAT yet, but it's on my to-do list.
And a wider shot to show its context:
So, please tell me, which looks better? The old version, or the new one? Thanks in advance!
