Color Codes Empty Color Codes

Post by Aleks 13th February 2010, 16:38

Well, in the member application area, I say we have "official" color codes. Some people already use them, but for the sake of convenience, i say we make it official.

Color Codes:

Green - Yes
Orange (or Yellow) - Yes, But Needs Improvement
Red - No

thats what i thought, but i also thought some people might like to stay with the traffic light theme (where as yellow means drive as fast as you can and hope you make the light Laugh )

I prefer orange than yellow.

Speaking about dashing when the lights turn yellow, in Singapore, some bus drivers speed when they see the yellow (amber in the correct term) light. Some of them of course failed, and they jam the brakes. :x Same goes for almost all typical Singapore taxis.

Road rage within Singaporean drivers is common.

Road hogger Cheeky/Razz

That's an offence in Singapore, and you could receive demerit points of you road hog. 24 demerit points and that's it, no driving for you! Cheeky/Razz

It's called summons in Singapore, but pronounced as sar-munk to typical Singaporeans due to broken English usage.

Everyone here just pass the intersection with traffic light. Because all traffic lights are off at that intersection, but there is 1 light on. So, the drivers at there should be careful.

Wish they brought that in in Northern Ireland - now we finally have devolution of justice   :bustedcop:

In Belfast a red light seems to be merely a suggestion to stop. Red means 'here lads think about stopping, but if you couldn't be arsed moving your foot slightly to the left then floor and you'll be sweet'.

12 Penalty points gets you disqualified here and the punishment for driving whilst disqualified is - you guessed it - 12 points :LOL!:

In NI (and Holidia):
speeding/using a mobile is 3 points, 6 points for second offence and thereafter
Drink and Dangerous driving is 10 points
death by dangerous driving and failing to provide a drugs/drink specimen is 12 points
driving without tax/insurance is 6 points*
no seatbelt is 6 points
unroadworthy vehicle is 3 points
Failing to stop after an accident 6 points
Failing to stop for police is 11 points

Points for less serious offences (i.e. 6 points or less) stay on your license for 4 years and usually also involve an on-the-spot fine.
Points for more seriopus offecnes (7-12 points) remain on a driver's license for 6-10 years (depending on offence) and offenders are usually summoned to court for fines/bans/disqualifications/other punishment (for dangerous driving etc.)

Disqualifications last usually from 1 year to 10 years depending on the judge, the offence(s) and previous records.

* - As of 2008 police must now seize the vehicle, it will be kept for 30 days until a insurance/tax certificate can be presented and a £150 fine is issued if insurance wasn't valid when car was seized or else wil be crushed (and the collection/crushing fee is charged to the offender)

In NYC, it means speed up before you get stopped. :bustedcop:

I'll vote for it, because it is very specific. But I'm not sure what necessity will it actually bring, since we have specifically posted Yes, No or need imporvmt.

My father once got 6 demerit point because of an offence that's unavoidable.

As he's a tour coach driver, he had to transport tourist from one tourist spot to another. There was once he had to stop beside the One Fullerton (a 5/6-star hotel in the downtown waterfront city). Unfortunately, he had to stop on the bus lane and had t wait for the tourist to board the coach. As he "parked" in the bus lane during the bus lane period, he got punished by receiving 6 demerit points.

Bus lanes in Singapore may be different from other country. Bus lanes in Singapore are shared together with the main traffic on the same road. During a certain period, especially during peak hours, no traffic except public buses can drive in the bus lane. Otherwise, you are free to drive on it.
