Points Allocation System
Source: http://simsports.darkbb.com/sign-up-compete-f4/pas-xii-now-open-t1986.htm
From: Joe90, Simsports (Link above)
Our Points Allocation System (PAS) allows competitors to add emphasis to sports their athletes should do better in, all from one easy to use spreadsheet.
Due to the ever-expanding games, each competing nation now receives 1000 points (plus bonuses) which they can use to assign to all the different Simlympic sports. With the new system, nations can now chose not to compete in certain sports simply by assigning that sport with 0 points.
PAS is now Open for the XII Simlympiad (May 2010). It will close promptly on Wednesday 14 April to allow the qualification tournaments to be run.
Bonus points:
The method of calculating bonuses has changed slightly this time around, as we have moved to a system using diminishing returns. This simply means that older bonuses aren't worth as much as newer bonuses. Better keep active if you want that Simlympic spirit to transfer into PAS points!
Participation: you get a 25 point bonus simply for being part of each Simlympics.
Bidding: Submitting a legitimate bid that makes it to the ISC session will see you earn a 50 point bonus.
Hosting: Hosting is a big deal, so if you win hosting rights for the Simlympics, you get a whopping 150 point bonus.
Thanks to the dimishing returns, it is possible that your points total can go down from games to games, although not as sharply as it rises with bidding and hosting bonuses.
How many points do I get then?

Re: May 2010 PAS
haha thanks blake.
Oh and guys, a helpful tip: when filling out PAS forms DO NOT put 25 points or less on any events. Because you're just wasting those points. There's soo much countries competing, that if you put 5 or 10 or even 25 points on PAS, you're not guaranteed to even make the semifinalists list in that event. Like if you want to score medal or even make semifinalists in an event put in like 50 or 100 if you can afford it

Re: May 2010 PAS
You got gold on 1 point? That's awesome!
Suddenly I'm no longer panicked. With the exception of a couple of sports where I put 30 point in, I put 20 on most and 10 or 5 in the rest.

Re: May 2010 PAS
This time, I'm trying a new method. The key sports, i enter 45 points. The rest, about 10-20 points. And for the first time, I will enter points for athletics and swimming events but with 1 point each same as shooting.
Let's see if I'm lucky like Nate.

Re: May 2010 PAS
yeah points only increase your chances. It never ever promises a medal. You could use all your point in 1 event. And it wont secure a medal. Its all mathematical formulas and probability

Re: May 2010 PAS
