As Fornax is a strong supporter of the Holy See, anyone country who arrest Pope Benedict XVI will be treated as an enemy of Fornax.

Off-topic: As I believe that the arrest warrant is purely role-playing, just in case, please try not to get the Interpol involve. In other words, try not to use real life organizations. Thank you.

As I said before, Arcacia will not be bullied. We exercise our judiciary without fear or favour. No-one is above the law.

The arrest warrant is only valid in Arcacia and Lycanthia. As long as Mr Ratzinger does not enter either country, he will not be arrested.

Simple as that. He can still enter Australia and Arcacian and Lycanthian citizens can jump cross the border to visit him.

Ollingdale will continue to condemn this, and will support the Pope in any situation against Arcacia.
UIO-ARC relations have been downgraded from "Strong" to "Good", and may be downgraded further.

This is my final word on the issue:

Arcacia has one priority and one priority only. The welfare of its citizens. Several Arcacian children were brutalised at the hands of the Catholic church and Mr Ratzinger had knowledge of this.

That this simple fact has managed to escape you all is beyond belief.

It is not confined to Arcacia. All over the world, horror stories are emerging an the hierarchy of the Catholic church must be held accountable for the rape and torture of innocent children worldwide.

That there are those of you who would actively defend the church in the light of what is happening all over the world is reprehensible. You should all be absolutely ashamed of yourselves.

Is the sheer horror lost on you? Are you that completely deluded that it simply doesn't matter? This unconditional defence of a former Nazi who was implicit in the covering-up of child abuse is sickening.

Do you understand what went on behind the closed doors of orphanages and boarding houses run by the church? Boys being brutally beaten, raped and humiliated by priests. Girls being tortured and abused at the hands of nuns. All the while, Ratzinger and others doing everything they could to make sure it didn't go public.

Empty apologies by the Pope amount to nothing more than repulsive posturing. Those responsible for the cover-up, including "His Holiness" must be brought to justice.

Arcacia is currently re-examining it's position in the AIN and may consider resigning from the union. Arcacia will view any nation deliberately aiding Mr Ratzinger against these charges as an enemy of the State.

I know what has happened - but this is the AIN, not the real world.
I had always thought that this was about your fictitious country wanting him arrested in the AIN world that our countries are part of - not the real world. I was never in support of the issue, just against what Arcacia is doing.

This is an internet fictitious world - not the real world where we would condemn his actions, where we do condemn his actions.
The fact of the matter is, Ollingdale is a Catholic country and arresting it's biggest community's leader is not something we want a part in.
We will support him in any way possible.

In the AIN world, that is.

I do hope this is only roleplay and an issue, although not trivial, will not affect your realtionship with our members.

I, myself, know of someone personally who was abused by the catholic brothers, it is a horrific experience and this whole issue being brought up again by the media has lead him back into alcoholism.
However, whilst the pope is involved in covering up this, arresting someone as influential as the pope will cause a great deal of unrest from devout catholics who support the pope, as you said Dan, no one is above the law - whther a nation's law or God's law and there needs to be some form of punishment for the whole cover-up, how to deal with this I do not know. Though arresting the pope will damage a lot of devout people further...

Upon reflection, I have decided to make this all go away. It's obviously too contentious and there doesn't seem to be any good coming out of it.

If an admin could please delete this thread it would be most appreciated.

Thread Locked - I was unsure of the AIN's thread deletion policy and no other admins were online, this is archived and only viewable by admins until I know whether deleting threads is permitted.

Thanks
