Question:

Should I limit the game to just Euro style, or allow Houston/Chicago/New York too?

Unless you're aiming for a time period, allow all styles. Then bulldoze anything that doesn't fit.

Well it's modern Europe, and development only really began in the 1980s/1990s.

The Ollingdale Thread - Page 2 Empty Ollingdale Political Parties

Post by Thomas 17th April 2010, 20:01

Political Parties of the UIO

Major Parties

Conservative Party of Ollingdale (also known as Tories): Led by PM Thomas Simpson, currently governing the country. They are Eurosceptic, and are a centre-right, right wing party. They support independence and are popular in the middle and upper classes, like their brethren in Britain.

Liberal Party: Left-wing party led by Jeremy Winchester, and won the first election in the country in 2000. They support integration into the European Union, and are popular in the middle classes. They are closely linked to the European Party.

Green Party: Centralist party led by Harriet Germaine, and is the smallest of the main parties. They are closely-linked to the Conservative Party, and are strongly Eurosceptic. They believe in cutting the dependence on oil, export of oil and developing Ollingdale as a green country. They are popular in the rural areas and lower classes.

Minor Parties

Labour Party of Ollingdale: Led by Frank Pedro, they are the remains of Britain's Labour party that used to rule Ollingdale. They finished second in the 2000 election, due to their support for independence, but have become deeply unpopular after aligning with the European Party and the Commonwealth Party in 2005. They are a centre-left party.

European Party: Led by Warren Carter, they are the most pro-European parties in the country. Supported by European companies trading in Ollingdale, they believe that leaving the AIN and joining the Eurozone and EU are key to Ollingdale's future. Much of the middle classes dislike this party.

Commonwealth Party: Led by Daphne Brown, the Commonwealth Party supports an alliance with Britain and the Commonwealth, as part of a unified economic area. They are known in the public as the "Wacky Wealthies", due to their allegiances with UKIP in Britain and their Empire-style beliefs.

These adverts do not show all programmes, only the key ones. Sky News on the Hour was not featured, for example.

The Ollingdale Thread - Page 2 Empty Immigration System

Post by Thomas 3rd May 2010, 12:39

In reply to the recent post by Dan on Arcacia's policies and Neil on Holidia's policies...

[FREE TRAVEL AREA - OPEN BORDER] Ollingdale does not have a Free Travel Area policy for any country.

[OPEN BORDER] Ollingdale does not have an Open Border policy for any country.

[SECONDARY BORDER] Citizens of the following countries require only a valid passport to enter Ollingdale and only require a visa if they intend to live, work or study for more than six months, visas last up to five years:

Switzerland
United Kingdom
Republic of Ireland
Holidia

[VISA WAIVER] Citizens of the following countries require only a valid passport to enter Ollingdale and may stay for up to two months, but require a valid visa to work or study, these can only be obtained through an Immigration Centre in Ollingdale or from a UIO embassy/consulate in an immigrants home nation:

Aleksania
Arcacia
Ascadylea
Corraile
East Rockcoast
Escambia
Hypertrophy
Illu'a
Lanaya
Lisieux
Lower Columbia
Petrova
Roanoke Island
Tirnreich
Tongolia
United States
All European Union Nations

[VISA] Citizens of all other countries require a valid passport and valid visa to enter Ollingdale. Tourist visas are valid for two months from date of issue, tourist visa carriers must leave Ollingdale within this time and tourist visas cannot be renewed. Work/study visas are valid for four years from date of issue and can only be renewed by presenting oneself to an immigration tribunal.
If you overstay, you are either immediately deported, depending on the country you originate from, or go to court and face a minimum sentence of 4 months in prison and 100 hours of community service.

Most AIN nations have visa waiver priveledges - although these are removed if misused by citizens of the nation. Please mention if you are missing on the list.
