Arcacian Airlines Cancels A380s
PROVIDENCE - Arcacian Airlines has today cancelled its order for 2 Airbus A380s following the engine explosion of a Qantas A380 over Indonesia. Qantas flight 32 was en route from Singapore to Sydney when the engine exploded, forcing the aircraft to return to Singapore for an emergency landing. Parts of the engine cowling rained down on a heavily populated Indonesian island. Miraculously, no-one on the ground was injured or killed by the debris. No-one on board the crippled plane was injured. Qantas and Singapore Airlines have grounded there entire A380 fleets.
Arcacian Airlines says the incident, which occurred on a 2 year old aircraft that had only recently been serviced in Germany, raises serious concerns about the A380. Arcacian Airlines has given the contract for its new aircraft to Boeing and has extended its order of 787s to 4 and has expressed interest in the 747-8.
Arcacian Airlines also says that the Qantas incident was not the Australian airline's fault and that the issue is with Airbus and Rolls Royce. Arcacian Airlines does not use Rolls Royce engines on any of its aircraft and does not have any Airbus aircraft in its fleet.

Did Arcacian even BUY A380s in the first place? I've never heard about it

You guys can opt for the Engine Alliance (GE & PW) GP2000 instead of the RR Trent 900 that was involved in yesterday's incident.
Yes, i'm defending the A380's position here

Arcacian Airlines had ordered 2 A380s. They hadn't yet taken delivery, nor finalised the contract. The order was only placed last week.

Oh...
Since when did Arcacian actually go to Airbus for aircraft? I thought they preferred Boeing?

Re: Arcacian Airlines Cancels A380s
They do. There was a decision taken a couple of months ago to buy 2 A380s to serve the high demand routes to Los Angeles and London. It was all very new and this incident has put the kibosh on it completely.
The cancellation actually came from the pilots who sent a very brief letter to management. Here it is in its entirety:

Dear Sir,
If it's not Boeing, we're not going.
Yours sincerely,
AAG Pilots Association

I though both Airbus an Boeing had downside but it just a small part of the whole company which both have many awesomeness.
