Cattala celebrates Bonfire Night

Cattala celebrated Bonfire Night, a tradition bought to the island by the British, in style this weekend as events took place across the country. The largest bonfire was in Celeste, where 60,000 people turned up to see Lord Celestine light the bonfire that shone for nearly three hours and fireworks that lit up the sky over the city all evening. It was the biggest showing at a Bonfire night on record, as the country moves away from the Americanised tradition of Halloween. Major shopping chains reported sales of fireworks and bonfire equipment rising by 17% this year, but Halloween sales fell by 13%, a fifth consecutive fall.
Jennai was home to a massive bonfire
Jennai and Calora also had popular bonfires this year, with the party going on in central Jennai until the early hours of Sunday morning, with pyrotechnics lighting up the city's CBD in an orange and red glow for all of Saturday. The Calora event is the most historically accurate, and is the only major celebration that takes place on the 5th of November each year. Guys were burnt across the city that evening, including a 15ft Guido near the Governor's Residence, in the centre of the city.
