Lord Secolo accompanied by the Syldavian Minister for Natural Resources in Vladivostok

Lord Celestine and Lance Cottlesely visit Syldavia

Lord Anthony Secolo and the Foreign Minister completed their two-day tour of Syldavia today, with an evening banquet at President Almaz's home in the capital, Vladivostok. The first day of the tour was hectic for both governments, with a visit to leading Syldavian manufacturers and corporations, and a business meeting that resulted in the signing of over $100 million worth of contracts and deals between the two governments and companies that joined the meetings.
Following a tough year for international relations, the two leaders were pleased to announce plans to rebuild and strengthen ties between their countries, with Lord Secolo saying that "trade and co-operation with Syldavia on matters relating to economics, politics, sovereignty and the ASC is vitally important with the world in it's current state. We need to work together and after today's meetings, I think we are well on the way to stronger, more beneficial relations."

On Friday evening Lord Celestine accompanied the President to a memorial for the war dead, including the Syldavians who died in the Pacific War and the 800,000 Syldavians who died in the Bloody Revolt of the East in the 1950s. Secolo marked the occasion by laying a wreath and watched a parade of Syldavian troops on foot and horseback.
President Almaz and Lord Celestine ended the tour with a united speech condemning conflicts that threaten sovereignty of independent states and both discussed the need to protect and support the smaller members of the alliance.

Foreign Minister Lance Cottlesely, right, during the visit to Hong Kong yesterday

Lord Celestine and Foreign Minister visit Okatabawashi

Lord Anthony Secolo and his foreign minister have completed their two-day tour of Okatabawashi, concluding their Asian tour ahead of a final stopover in the Hiigaran Confederacy next week. The trip was a symbolic meeting for the two friendly countries, who have strong trade and political ties going back centuries. "Cattala and Okatabawashi have been key friends and allies going back over 200 years, to the time of colonialism both in the Mediterranean and on these shores, of wonderful Okatabawashi City." began Lord Celestine when he made a speech to the Government Tower in the capital city of one of Asia's largest economies. His address to the national Parliament was the first by a Cattalian leader and the Loyal Lord expressed his gratitude to the people of Okatabawashi for welcoming him so kindly.

"Of all of the countries I've visited in my time, this has got to be one of the friendliest and most welcoming. It's an absolute pleasure to visit this city and I hope that this warm welcome will be reciprocated in Celeste and Jennai when your new President visits us this winter."

His speech focused on the key message of the Asian Tour, encouraging the preservation of democracy and sovereignty in all states around the world, and he also urged global leaders to ensure that smaller countries were not over-imposed on by bigger states. "In these times of economic and political hardship across the developing and developed worlds, it is crucial to ensure that sovereignty and economic independence is not put at risk for the benefit of pleasing markets and creditors. In generations to come the impacts of unsustainable economic, political and military dependence will be felt and will make the current crises look futile and modest. We must prevent this and ensure that countries are wholly sovereign and wholly self-sustaining politically and economically, without being infringed by greater powers."

The address received a standing ovation from the Parliament, with the Conservative Party leader the first to commend his centre-right counterpart. During the speech the Foreign Minister, Lance Cottlesely, was in a meeting with his Okatabawashian equal Sou Jinamoto agreeing to support the Asian country's application for Non Permanent Membership to the ASC next month, and after the meeting Cottlesely told the media he was "very pleased" to support Okatabawashi's objectives in the Security Council and had been "assured" that democracy and self-determination of states would be held in full regard by the Asian representatives.

Elsewhere in the tour, Cattala's state-owned economic giants Cattala Airways Group (CAG) and Royal Media International (RMI) announced the signing of multi-million dollar deals to invest in Okatabawashi. Regno Aerei, a subsidiary of CAG, will be expanding into the country in February, with the launch of a route between Jennai Intl and OKX Airport.
RMI Worldwide, the commercial arm of RMI, announced a deal to produce more documentaries and the importing of more OTV programming to Cattala and its overseas channels. The agreement is an expansion of an earlier deal that bought the two broadcasters together and opened up a new market for each of the state-owned media corporations.

Lord Secolo pictured during his visit to Rurov's Soviet War Memorial.

Lord Celestine visits the Hiigaran Confederacy

Lord Anthony Secolo completed his first visit to Hiigara since the two countries nearly went to war in February, leaving the country having promised to reduce barriers to trade and diplomatic relations. Lord Celestine and his Hiijaran counterpart Timur Saigilov agreed to lift the border restrictions on Cattalians visiting Hiigara and both leaders attended symbolic ceremonies to mark the sacrifices made by Hiigara to prevent the Soviet Union from gaining a foothold in the Middle East and dominating the Black Sea. Secolo and Saigilov both laid wreaths at a monument to those who died in Rurov in 1951, when the town was the first to be bombed by the Soviets in what later became the invasion of Hiigara. Thousands of anti-Soviet citizens were executed or sent to gulags by Stalin's forces.

The symbolic gestures continued when the ancient Cattalian Club in Hiigara was returned to the ownership of local Cattalian ex-pats who lived in Nogovicka. In return, Lord Secolo donated a priceless Hiigaran portrait of a former Sajuuk Khar to the Nogovicka Museum, after having it shipped over from the Celestine Royal Museum in Amosseri.

Both leaders attended diplomatic talks which led to "beneficial and constructive" agreements aimed at "rebuilding bridges and forming peace between our countries", according to Lord Secolo. "Our differences should not be resolved by re-armament or threats of war. That achieves nothing. The reopening of borders and diplomatic relations between Cattala and Hiigara are the first steps to a return to peaceful relations between our two nations."

The Foreign Ministry of the Realm can also announce that Hiigaran leaders, including Queen Sharanqui and the Emperor of the Kushan Lesov Empire, are to visit Cattala in 2012 and visit Queen Alexandra the Fifth.
