The Kingdom of Cattala is a deeply religious nation, and the Church is entitled to make a statement regarding it's opinion on the matter. The Church of England makes many statements regarding political decisions in the UK.
If a Government makes a decision which a majority of the public disapproves of, then the politicians lose their seats and lose power. Therefore they make decisions that the public supports. In Cattala, that's often achieved by following the lines of the Church.

And actually the decision by a majority of the nations that said they would have nothing to do with this was because of scientific flaws. The chances of Earth being hit by an Armageddon-style meteor is minuscule. A costly and unnecessary space defence program is not the way to resolve a problem we won't face for another quarter of a century.

Although the Calaréann Government feels that a space program of some kind could be beneficial to the Alliance, the Government of Calaré feels that it should be more holistic in nature. The Calaréann Government also feels that the issue of religion has tarnished the prospects of this program. The Cattalan ambassador will be summoned by the Calaréann Foreign Ministry to tell the Cattalan Government of the Calaréann Governments' discomfort with religion being brought into discussions of the union. The Calaréann Government has no quams with individual nations having State based religious institutions so long as they do not enter the political fray of the union. If at some point in the future a space program proposal is floated again then the Calaréann Government will consider it based on its merits.

Dryan this has nothing to do with personal religions. It's nothing to do with my Catholicism, your Islamic views or anyone else's religious opinions or beliefs. It's about our nations.

If you feel uncomfortable reading about the Cattalian Catholic Church making a statement, then don't keep reading this thread.
