Simlympic Torch Relay
The relay began on Sunday and will be going on until July 1, which is the Opening Ceremony of the X Simlympiad! I bet you can't wait to see what ilikehotdogsalot has in store huh? Well, to give you a little appetizer, watch the torch relay here: http://simsports.darkbb.com/july-simlympic-torch-relay-f134/
PAS
PAS stands for Points Allocation System, in which you can allocated points to your desired Simlympic event which will result in higher chances of your country getting medals for that specific event. Here are the spreadsheets for you to use. After completing one of them, please send them to top.slacker(at)gmail.com
http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/14435/PAS-Simlympiad-X.xls(for those who have MS Excel)
Or http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/14435/PAS-Simlympiad-X-MSWorks.xls (for those who have MS Works)
Wondering how many points you have? Check it out here: http://simsports.darkbb.com/sign-up-compete-f4/pas-points-allocation-system-t425.htm
Contest from Petrova
Because this is the biggest event of the summer, we need you to be there! The ISC-Liason Team will be checking for those who are active during the games. So as an incentive from Peter (aka Petrovar Ambassador), the 5 most active people from the Simtropolis community, 5 from SCJU/COFR/AIN/Scandia/other unions will get to choose first from this year's Miss SimUniverse candidates! So go, go, go!!!

If you download the PAS spreadsheet (http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/14435/PAS-Simlympiad-X.xls), there's a sign up box integrated into that .
I presume Newport has been superseded then?

indeed it has
btw Slacker, my props to you man. The Simlympics have gone far beyond the lifespan of both my previous unions. And it has become more prestegious than when I first became a part of it. But now it's freakin hard to win things! Dang you. Anyways, congrats bro, and long live.
since i bidded with Newport (and won the gold medal tally at the December 2008 Simlympics ) can I get those extra PAS points on this new country?

QFT. I remember when Lower Columbia was a Simlympic powerhouse; we won the most medals at not one, but two different Simlympiads, incliding the one held at Nyhaven. Now it's tough to even get in the top 16, even in events I put a ton of points into in my PAS! All this is a testament to the runaway success the Simlympics (and SimSports in general) have become. Kudos, Slacker!dizflip wrote:indeed it has

Yeah, I remember that. LOL but I wouldve probably won the most medals if I didn't quit on Newport at the next simlympics since I did get the most gold medals and the 2nd most total medals at the December 2008 Simlympics.. =P

Re: July Simlympics - Hosted by Hinawa, Seto
Aww, thanks guys .
We're working on trying to ensure more medals are won. We've increased the number of events from 90 to 148, increasing the medals up for grabs from 270 to 444. In addition, we're posting far more in depth results this time round. We're going to have quarter finals, semis, full scores; the whole shebang. Plus we have 5 qualification tournaments where we will post the results for all 114 nations across 5 rounds .
Afraid not . We assign the extra points to the nation rather than the user. So by starting a new nation, you effectively wipe the slate clean unfortunately.
I may be wrong, but I believe you're the only nation to ever come first in more than one games. Also, we're working on an overall medals list - I have a feeling LCO will be very high up on that .
Spore415: It's super easy, just download, fill in and then send [url=http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/14435/PAS-Simlympiad-X.xls]this spreadsheet[/url, and voila! You're signed up . If for whatever reason the spreadsheet doesn't work, just post the following information here and I'll add you to the competitors list:
Username:
Nation Name:
NSC (3 Letters, eg LCO for Lower Columbia) Code:
Link to flag:
As for medals, we take care of all that using a system based on something called PAS (Points Application System), which allows you to chose which sports you'd like to do best at. All of this is done in the spreadsheet above .

Re: July Simlympics - Hosted by Hinawa, Seto
just wondering here, for the games, would football be american soccer?
Guest- Guest
Re: July Simlympics - Hosted by Hinawa, Seto
Yes, it would. I'd be very surprised if American football were a Simlympic sport, since only one subset of nations (presumably those whose users are American and whose nations are inspired by American culture) really plays it. But who knows? It could happen one day...

Re: July Simlympics - Hosted by Hinawa, Seto
It does indeed.
Football (Soccer).
Edit: Oops, didn't notice the 2nd page. woodb3k is right, currently no plans to introduce American Football, but could happen in the future I suppose.

Re: July Simlympics - Hosted by Hinawa, Seto
sorry I haven't been helping with this thread.
Spore, to answer your question: honestly, I dont know the answer, but I think that Slacker will let you add the 40 points(but it might be too late as the games begin tomorrow)

Re: July Simlympics - Hosted by Hinawa, Seto
unfortunatly spore Peter is right with the games begining tomorrow it's too hard to get points added in now as the points very well could have affected the Qualifing Tournaments(last one wraps up today) as well we start simming the games a couple days out to help out with the sheer volume of stuff that we do to present them.
I'm sorry we couldn't get you all the points in hopefully it won't affect you that much.
