Re: Onubis V2 Updates
Thanks for the comments guys! I will go back to updating Onubis after the 27th. (Photobucket's limits how much memory of images I can upload per month.)

Majhost is also a good option if you want no limits on picture size

Re: Onubis V2 Updates
Its only for two days, then I'll be back updating.
-------------------
On a more serious note, should I even continue Onubis? I have this feeling that all the updates I do is too repetitive because its either extreme ghetto or Dubai like cities. Due to the lack of REAL Middle Eastern content and that my 3dsmax does not work, I am having second thoughts doing an American city instead.

I love Onubis. It's not repetitive at all - it's always different. You could probably look outside of the box - maybe some ruined ancient cities in the desert or something, if you really wanted it to be more diverse.
In my opinion, American cities are repetitive because a lot of people do them. I'd say they're below your skill level, personally.

Onubis I love. It would be interesting to see what your American cities look like. Ultimately it's up to you.

You know, you are right. I never realized that CJ was / is that unique because all the attention and comments go to American and/or utopian cities. For example, my Salem side project proved that viewers are more likely to comment on clean, American cities. (Its like the pop / dance music on the radio of City Journals. ) In contrast, my Astoria side project received loads of comments because it was American and was an alternative to Huston's Selbring and TkindusT's Ghetto and Rust Stories.
--------------
To the rest, you are all right. I should continue this CJ, but I should even create even more unique updates.

That's exactly right. I hope to see more of Onubis, because it's one of the oldest African/Middle Eastern city journals - and now that Gansbaai has gone, a quality desert-based CJ is a rare sight.

Re: Onubis V2 Updates
Gobar is not a complete wealthy city like Dubai, this city comprises one of the largest slums in Onubis. Based on the 2010 census, there are over fifty-thousand slum residents living in Gobar. Surprisingly, gleaming skyscrapers were even built in the South-side.
Parisian architecture is somewhat common in Gobar because the city used to be the prime trading port in the Middle East. During the French's time in colonial Onubis, Parisian architecture was built so that the French feel closer to home.
Unfortunately, most of the Parisian architecture was demolished due to expansion. Recently, the Onubisian Historical National Register in order to preserve historical buildings.
-------------
Side note: You asked for it, and here is a new update. I have been working on section of Gobar for a while and still in WIP. Feel free to post any suggestions or criticize it.

Absolutely love it Evillions - that tiny historic district, surrounded by sprawl, is a really powerful image. Great to see Onubis back.

Thanks for the comments guys!

During this gap, I have almost completed the city. However, I will need some ancient Middle Eastern - like models. (I have all of onlyplace4's desert lots) If anybody knows, please post a link here. And do not worry about the lot, I will edit that.

Re: Onubis V2 Updates
Hmm... I think you could, possibly, relot some of Mickebear's buildings, probably the lighter coloured ones, and they could work as older Middle Eastern buildings. Maybe you could look at some Roman settlements for inspiration on how to you Mickebear buildings?
I don't really know of any other options because it's not a popular choice for City Journals - most people would rather cater for the bloated US-style City Journal market.
I'm sure you do a brilliant job with whatever you find though.

Gobar South II
Gobar South Pt. II
Its nighttime and the city is lively as ever. The shops are usually packed with gullible customers and offices with 2nd shift workers.
The city's port is considered to be one of the busiest ports of its size in Onubis. The port's workers dwell in government blocks or shanties.
Last but not least, old city. Only partial sections survived throughout the centuries. This old city is considered to be one of the remaining in Onubis. Currently, this area is being restored to its former state and being protected by UNESCO.
