We still need a Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports and a Minister for Citizens’ Affairs.
Don't feel forced to run, but it would be a shame if nobody did run for the position and someone got chosen by an email poll. Then we might end up with some people fulfilling two Cabinet roles, which wouldn't really be fair on them.

Or, if people wanted, we could allow people to run for two ministries if they wanted to. If nobody decides to run for MCAS or MCA then that is another option.
If so I'll try to take MCA possition. but if none take it. Smile

@Julien: Yar, totally.

@Forthwall: Since you are running for Vice President as well, you can't run for a Ministerial position.

@Forsma: Don't feel as though you are being forced to do so - run for a position you feel that you can serve to the best of your ability and keep active. Smile

I've checked through some previous elections and decided that it would be best if we allowed people to run for two ministries, or an Executive position. So you can run for the MCA and MCAS, for example, or run for President. You can't run for President and MCA/MCAS. If you have any questions, let me know.

Announcing your position closes on Wednesday (31st) at 23:59 BST. Campaigning starts at 00:00 BST on Thursday.

I announced my intention to run as Vice-President to the Executive earlier today (1400 BST)

Let's make it a three-horse race...

On empty positions, are they not usually appointed?

Well we didn't have any empty positions in February '11 or September '10. So I'm not really sure what the procedure is.

I guess we could do appointments if nobody wants to run for them.

Daniel Raffaele will be co-ordinating this election, since he is running unopposed in his ministry and is an impartial member of the union. Smile

Can I suggest if a candidate gets two ministerial posts they co-opt the other candidate who ran against them after appointing a Commissioner to assist with the department?

In fact, I suggest that who wins two ministerial positions should pabdicate one of the folders to the other candidate.

I feel that if someone who wins two posts and is capable of running two ministries should be allowed. That said there arent that many candidates in that situation..

Commissioners are appointed by ministers to help the minister. So it should be down to the minister to decide if they appoint someone as a commissioner and they should be allowed to choose whoever they wish to be their assistant.

Fair enough then, it is of course still up to the democratically elected minister, but it was just a suggestion
