Re: Presidential Goodwill Tour
Oh, OK then.
After meeting with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, President Daniel Raffaele flew to Guam for a weekend of rest and relaxation before flying to Tokyo. The President was originally to meet with the Prime Minister, but he resigned and although is still a caretaker Prime Minister, the meeting was cancelled. The President was subsequently invited to an audience with the Emperor and Empress, to take place over a formal banquet dinner. The President and his entourage have also been invited to stay in the Imperial Palace for the night. The President will fly to Vladivostok, Syldavia in the morning to meet with the Syldavian government. It is hoped the meeting will put an end to tension between Arcacia and Syldavia.

Re: Presidential Goodwill Tour
After what can only be described as a lavish banquet at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, where the President expressed the sympathies of a nation to the Japanese people, the entire entourage spent the night at the Palace. The next morning the President flew to Vladivostok where he met with his Syldavian counterpart. In a meeting that the President described as "relaxed and convivial," both sides agreed that previous tension was water under the bridge and a fresh start was mutually welcome.
The following morning, after a breakfast reception, the President departed for the longest single leg of the journey. From Vladivostok, Coast Guard One flew to Petropavlovsk in the Russian Krai of Kamchatka where, during a short 30 minute fuel stop, the President was greeted by the mayor of Petropavlovsk. It was then on to Adak Island, Alaska for a two hour speaking engagement and supper which, despite the late hour (the President arrived at about 10pm local time) drew an impressive crowd, with almost all of the island's roughly 200 inhabitants in attendance.
Departing at midnight, Coast Guard One flew onto Anchorage. During the 2 hour and 20 minute flight, all on board were treated to the spectacle of the Northern Lights which danced above the plane for almost the entire time. The pilot managed to capture an impressive photo of the shimmering green curtain:
Touching down in Anchorage just before 5am local time, all on board welcomed the 24 hour rest stop. The President and his entourage will rest and recuperate in Anchorage while Cost Guard One undergoes routine maintenance. The next diplomatic visit will be with representatives from the Lower Columbian government in Calgary on Friday.

Re: Presidential Goodwill Tour
After a day of rest in Anchorage, the President flew to Calgary where he met with high ranking members of the Lower Columbian government. The meeting was described as constructive with both countries reaffirming their friendship and commitment to the Alliance. After a night in Calgary, the President flew on to Ottawa where he met with the Canadian Prime Minister and Governor-General. Again an affirmation of friendship, the meeting was relaxed and congenial. After an extra day in Ottawa, the President departed for Washington, D. C.
The trip was not entirely event free. After a very bumpy flight down from Ottawa, Coast Guard One was on final visual approach to Washington Reagan National Airport when wind sheer at 1,500 feet almost spelled disaster. The landing was aborted and the aircraft diverted to Andrews Air Force Base.
Once safely on the ground, the President met with his US counterpart, Barak Obama. After laying a wreath at the Pentagon almost 10 years to the day after 9/11, the President attended an official reception where he spoke to several high ranking members of the US Government. The President reaffirmed Arcacia's friendship and said that America had every reason to be optimistic about its future.
After a night in the White House, the President and his entourage departed Washington after breakfast. After a fuel stop in Gander, Coast Guard One crossed the Atlantic, landing in Iceland's Keflavik International Airport mid afternoon. The President was met by the Icelandic President, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson who personally escorted the President and his party to Reykjavik where he will speak to the Alþingi. The President will stay in Reykjavik overnight before flying to Dublin.

Re: Presidential Goodwill Tour
The President has completed the first part of the European leg. After addressing the Icelandic parliament, the President stayed in Reykjavik for the night before flying to Dublin where he met with Irish President Mary McAleese. The visit to Ireland was the first of the so-called "home countries" which also include England and France which constitute the three main ethnic European groups of Arcacia going back to settlement.
After Dublin, it was off to London to visit the Queen. Though no mice where frightened under her chair, the meeting was cordial and friendly. Royal protocol prohibits the details of the meeting from being made public. After a night in Buckinham Palace, the President flew to Paris where he was greeted by President Nicolas Sarkozy. The two discussed Arcacia's long and friendly ties with France. Indeed, it was the French who assured Arcacia's independence during the reign of Louis XVIII, by bestowing upon the Office of the President of Arcacia the Order of the Holy Spirit and the Order of Saint Michael, effectively making the incumbent President a de facto knight of the Kingdom of France. The orders, however, belong to the office itself and not the office holder.
After a night in Paris, Coast Guard One flew to Luxembourg. There, the President and his entourage will rest for the weekend as guests of the Grand Duke whilst Coast Guard One undergoes routine maintenance and cleaning. The President will fly to Berlin on Monday.
