Should the AINSA be discontinued?
Re: Alliance of Independent Nations Space Association (AINSA)
In general, places closer to the Equator are better places to launch a spaceship because it's more efficient.

Well the Equator goes through New Chandler, so you can't get much closer than that.... If you would like it there we can change regulations to allow that, I am sure President Johansen wouldn't have a problem with it.,emgmod wrote:In general, places closer to the Equator are better places to launch a spaceship because it's more efficient.

Duwamish won't build its launch pad, instead opting for possible regional HQ in North America.
Re: Alliance of Independent Nations Space Association (AINSA)
Well, the Tirnreich will be the base for the World HQ, as well as the European.
We already have a launch-ready site, which we are running tests on before a sattelite launch in October.
Soon, I will have a sign up sheet that you all can fill out, and I can assess and make necessary arrangements for headquarters.

Starfishland would like to host pacific HQ
Re: Alliance of Independent Nations Space Association (AINSA)
If possible, Fornax would like to be the launch pad site for AINSA.
It is understandable that Fornax is still recovering from the recent events on Fornax. Yet, the Government of Fornax is keen on developing a space sector that will help Fornax being less dependent on its agriculture sector and automobile sector. The other reasons are:
1) Creating job opportunities to the estimated high unemployment rate
2) Huge undeveloped lands that fits the requirements of building a launch pad
3) Fornax is located at and close to the equator, with the equatorial line cuting across Northern Fornax and the furthest point at 10 degrees south of the equator at the city of Abram.
If the community is keen on making Fornax as the launch pad site, the Government of Fornax will agree to cover at most 65% of the cost for building a launch pad, with the rest (35%) to be covered by the other members of AINSA. Construction of the launch pad could being as soon as possible once neccessary paperworks are done.
The space sector will be a new industrial sector for Fornax since Fornax's heavily dependent sectors, agriculture and automobile, are heavily affected by the recent events on Fornax. The agriculture sector will take decades of recover. the automobile sector will be unlikely to recover in the near future as the automobile companies worldwide have lost confidence on the country.

Corraile would like to be the North American Regional HQ's location.
In addition to the Space Shuttle launches, CISAR (Corraile Institute for Space and Atmospheric Research) would like to collaborate with the AINSA to allow for a "Flying Observatory", based on the SOFIA platform.
The AARON (Aerial Astronomical Research ObservatioN) Project has specially modified Boeing 747-100SP mounted with a powerful infrared telescope to study the composition of planetary atmospheres and surfaces; to investigate the structure, evolution and composition of comets; to determine the physics and chemistry of the interstellar medium; and to explore the formation of stars and other stellar objects.
AARON is currently funded by both the Corrailite Government and CISAR. The AINSA is free to make use of the aircraft.

The Royal and Holy Kingdom of Cattala supports Fornax for the location of the launch pad of the AINSA. We would also like to put forward the 35% extra funding necessary to construct and maintain the launch pad, as part of a donation from the RHK to the people of Fornax.

Lisieux would like to hold the North American HQ as it would provide tons of jobs and would help our young country to return to the economic standards that we once had.

Re: Alliance of Independent Nations Space Association (AINSA)
Aleksania would like permission to use Baikonur Cosmodrome instead of the Foxnax Launch Facility as Aleksania has already entered into an agreement with the Russian Space Agency to lease a launch pad until. Aleksania would also like to welcome other AIN countries to use this launch area until the Fornax (or other chosen facility) is decided upon/completed. In addition, there is a launch facility for low-earth orbit payloads on the island of Novye Rodos near the equator, and an other in the former KSR that is currently being brought up to Aleksanian Specifications and should be "to spec" by November.

Re: Alliance of Independent Nations Space Association (AINSA)
List of the places people are currently applying for:
Possible Launch Pads:
Nigamo, Lanaya
Somewhere, New Chandler
Guels Park, Tirnreich
Somewhere, Fornax
Somewhere, Tirnlander South Rockcoast?
Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakstan
Novye Rodos, Aleksania
Trent Valley, Starfishland
Possible Regional HQs:
Duwamish (North America)
Starfishland (Pacific)
Corraile (North America)
Lisieux (North America)
(my suggestion for a Pacific HQ) Fornax
New Chandler (Africa)
Fairview (Europe)
Other Stuff:
Flying Observatory (Corraile)
Illu'a supports Fornax as the official launch pad of the AINSA. We will be willing to help out with funding and or construction.
And along with a realism check...
There are only nine real life space agencies that have launch capability. Only three of them can send men up to space.

Are you guys gonna use the Space Shuttle Concept? I might be able to make a carrier for that (like how NASA ferries Space Shuttles around the USA)

Just a comment about launch pads, I can't stand the maxis one. So everybody should try to download THIS one instead.
EDIT Also about the headquarters in New Chandler, it would probably be in Rockaway.

There's some replacement automata for the Space Shuttle on the STEX if you want to use those too. I think they're under srainy.
And since they're automata...

The Royal Gansbaai Kingdoms would like to apply to have a launch pad for the AINSA. It is already under construction in the Nouadhibou desert, and the headquarters building is already finished.
Another thing I wanted was to propose somthing.
A moon base. Gansbaai scientists have already put forth over a million dollars in research into this project. This is absolutely feasible, the biggest problem is price. So currently the Gansbaai Kingdoms is currently looking for investors, to put forth money for this project. Any amount is greatly appreciated.
The cost for this project is estimated at 320 Billion USD. (:AINERO: 106.66 billion). The Gansbaai kingdoms itself can put forth as much money as needed. Our recent skyrocketing economic growth makes this possible, with a GDP of $360.8 billion.
Pictured below is phase 1 of the project. To get people living on the moon. This project would mainly consist of a one-time cost, (aside from ships bringing people to and from the base itself). It is made to provide a permanent place of residence on the moon. All run on completely renewable resources, and built from meterials extracted from the moon it-self. More details to come.

The Duwamish Senate will allocate :AINERO: 1.2 billion for funding of a hypothetical moon base. In addition, the Duwamish International Society for Astronomy and Astrophysics (DISAA) will allocate :AINERO: 2.3 million for the base.
