IAC Airstrikes Spark unease in Arabian Penninsula
SINAJ, Saudi Arabia- In the aftermath of Tirnlander Imperial Air Corps Bombings at strategic Global Red Army (GRA) terrorist training camps, many Middle Eastern nations expressed condemnation and fear towards the Tirnlander airstrikes.

Saudi Arabia condemned the usage of the Tirnreich's base in Arabia in the strikes, citing that the airbase was permitted only to support anti-piracy forces in the region.

Yemen commented that as the strikes were carried out on known terrorist organization camps, that the motives were clear. Although Yemeni correspondents noted that these strikes were carried out without the knowledge of Yemeni officials in Acijnstan, which was a autonomous republic in Yemen for several decades.

Acijnstan officials stated that the attacks were carried out both without the knowledge of Acijnstani military or government officials, and outside of international pacts. Tirnlander consulates and the embassy in Krijia will be temporarily closed until a resolution is made.

Tirnlander Defense, Realty Budgets Increased
NACHTSBURG, Tirnreich- Prime Minister Christoph Kohl in coordination with Economics Minister Heinz Colwaal spoke to the rest of the Ministry of Economics in order to release more funds for the Ministry of Defense, as well as for the Dept. of Foreign Acquisitions, a subdivision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Defense budget has been rumored to be set at USD$500 million, while the Foreign Acquisitions budget has been increased from USD$28.9 million to $50 million.

The increase in government spending has some analysts worried, especially in the current global econonomy, but moreover as the Tirnreich is quite young as a nation.

LISIEUXIAN ISLE SOLD TO TIRNREICH
NACHTSBURG, Tirnreich- Earlier today, Lisieux Ambassador to the Tirnreich, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hanz Fogle, signed a deal in which Lisieux agreed to sell an island off the coast of Humboldt Island to the Tirnreich. The island will have multiple uses, although the primary reason for purchase is for a military outpost.

This island will formally be named Tirn Isle and will be officially indicted into the Tirnreich when Emperor von Nacht travels to Lisieux, and then the island later this week. This purchase represents the first dependancy of the Tirnreich's outer empire.

Drama in the Middle East
SINAJ, Saudi Arabia- The Tirnlander Strike Base at Sinaj reported earlier this morning that they have been attacked by GRA personnel hiding in towns and in the mountains in the borderlands. IAC airmen and ISARS operators have pushed back the assailants as of 4:00pm local time. Due to the increasing danger of Imperial forces in the area, PM Kohl has signed off an order to send 5,000 TDF soldiers to guard the strike base.

Official news from Acijnstan reports that they will not allow the Tirnlander forces to assault the GRA camps again, threatening with war declaration if it happens. But they will also not battle the GRA militants, citing the fact that they are tax-paying citizens as the reason. This is somewhat of an untrue statement, as reconnaissance forces have identified non-native members in the camps.

What's GRA? If GRA isn't a "allied" country of Lydosia, that last one will send troups to help Tirnreich!

GRA=Global Red Army, a communist/terrorist organization.

Tension Builds as Troops Prepare for Battle
SINAJ, Saudi Arabia- Escalating tension in the Arabian Peninsula is drawing the attention of the Simsociated Press. Tirnlander troops have been sent word to neutralize the GRA presence in the Middle East once and for all. Soldiers from the TDF have kitted up, Airmen from the IAC have suited up, and the ISARS has readied its commandos for strikes into Acijnstan. The first site to be cleared is inside the split city of Tijabal. The operation is very sensitive, as Tijabal is located directly on the border of Acijnstan and Yemen, and the complex is near the heart of the Southern district.

SUDFELD, Tirnreich- The Tirnreich National hockey team is scheduled to play the 1st Union Cup. While being a relative failure in the Winter Simlympics, the National Team has been practicing during the offseason and will return for the Union Cup.

Former Soviet Governor Dies, Ceremony to be Held in April
HEKLI, Tirnreich- On the night of 19 March 2010, former Soviet Governor of the Tirnland Heinrich Gottfried passed away in his sleep. Gottfried was a fairly popular man among Tirnlander politicians; his policies loosened immigration restraints, economic distribution, and created more than 10,000 efficient jobs. Recently, evidence has surfaced that suggests Gottfried secretly helped nearly 5000 people escape Eastern Europe from the Soviet grip.

A ceremony will be held to honor the effort and service that Gottfried paid, in his service of what is now regarded as one of the toughest times in Tirnlander history. He will be honored with the Imperial Service Decoration (posthumous) during the April 8th ceremony.

Six Month Anniversary of the Tirnreich
NACHTSBURG, Tirnreich- Yesterday, 3.4.10, marked the 6 month anniversary of the full independence and unification of the Tirnreich. Festivities were held in the capital, and the surrounding metropolitan area, as well as on the Tirnisle. Emperor von Nacht presented revelers in Imperial Park with a speech celebrating the achievements of Tirnlanders and the country over the past 6 months. With such a big party for the six month anniversary, many analysts wonder what the one-year celebration will be like.

Correspondent visits Italy, Greece
NACHTSBURG, Tirnreich- Tirnlander Ministry of Media correspondent Geoff Crystal took a holiday to Italy and Greece last week, in an effort to learn more about the cultures and history of these important countries. Mr. Crystal traveled with his own money, although he was acting in part with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pictures will be posted later this month during a special exhibition.

Acijnstan declares WAR on Tirnreich
KRIJIA, Acijnstan- The Acijnstani Government has declared war on the Tirnreich, stating that the unprovoked strikes into Acijnstan threaten the public, their privacy, as well as Acijnstan's international relations. The Emir of Acijnstan declared that the Tirnlander assaults have killed 2 civilians, and injured 13, as well as destroyed nearly an entire city block in Tijabal. The Emir also stated that other countries have looked down on Acijnstan because they refused to take part in assaults on terrorist camps inside their country.

Tirnlander Minister of Defense Lutz has stated that the strikes are justified, and he has sent agents to research the validity of the claims of civilian casualties. He also intends to move 10,000 troops to aid the fight, even though the weak Acijnstani military can be destroyed by the troops that are already there, as he as said.

The Tirnreich may extend the call to arms to fellow AIN union members, although preliminary evidence suggests purely logistical support may be called for.

Simlympiad XII Training Starts for Tirnlander Team
SUDFELD, Tirnreich- With the 12th Simlympiad approaching, and with it being held within a member of the Alliance of Independent Nations, Emperor von Nacht has expressed the importance of participating fairly and to the best of the abilities of Tirnlander athletes during the games. Analysts from the Tirnlander Ministry of Sports will come to analyze the performance of athletes to report to the ISC for proper placement in the Games.

War Rages in Acijnstan, Strike Details Surface
SINAJ, Saudi Arabia- As the 2nd Infantry Combat Battalion arrived in Sinaj, recon units spotted several dozen IFVs approaching the outer security perimeter of the Tirnlander Joint Force Base. After several attempts to identify and deter the vehicles from coming closer, the IFVs entered the perimeter and opened fire on the outer security forces at the firebase. 13 Tirnlanders died in the attack, 34 were injured. TDF tanks and Anti-Tank troops quickly destroyed 5 of the vehicles, while 3 more were crippled and captured. The remaining vehicles fled the area.

Upon interrogation, it has been concluded that while the IFVs were Acijnstani, infantry and some crew members inside the IFVs were militants and/or members of the GRA militia. Most of the tank crews and some specialists were Acijnstani military personnel. Another shocking revelation that came to light during these interrogations is that the Acijnstani government modified the press release containing information about the Tirnlander strikes into Tijabal. It is now known that the death toll of civilians is 0, although the International Red Cross confirms that injuries have increased to 21. Whereas the strikes caused some minor civilian injuries, the assaults did eradicate GRA militants from nearby camps.

The Defense Minister has sent a War Declaration Initiative to the Imperial Council as well as the Emperor. If passed, the Tirnreich will officially declare war on Acijnstan. Personnel from the embassy in Krijia and consulates in other cities have been safely evacuated. Saudi Arabia has provided shelter and is allowing the personnel to stay until they can be safely returned to Nachtsburg.

Emperor von Nacht to Visit Poland Following Tragic Death of Officials
WARSAW, Poland- Emperor Konrad von Nacht is set to make a diplomatic trip to Warsaw later this week in order to share his condolences with Polish officials.

Earlier yesterday (10.4.2010) a jet plane containing high ranking government and military officials, including the President and Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, crashed near Smolensk, Russia. The officials were on their way to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Katyn Massacre, when the plane crashed into the ground, due to foggy conditions. (Full article HERE)

:AINERO: 3.2 Billion Airport to be Built
NACHTSBURG, Tirnreich- In this week's session of the Imperial Council, Minister of Transportation Corban Halbaek proposed a brand new, international airport be built in undeveloped land south of Hekli. Ministers of Economics, Construction, and Foreign Affairs have approved of this proposal, along with the mandatory signature of Prime Minister Kohl. Emperor von Nacht approves of the construction, and gave the final "OK" to initiate construction.

The Airport, to be named Tirnland International Airport, will host Air Tirnreich, the flag carrier airline of the Tirnreich, and other members of the Dove Air Alliance upon completion. It will also have garages for the KRvT Fleet of the IAC (executive transportation) to be housed in. Despite the heavy cost, the airport will be a step forward from the small regional airport in Hekli.

NACHTSBURG, Tirnreich- Officials from the EU have come to evaluate the Tirnreich for membership in the EU. Their decision will be taken back to an admissions board next month.

Tirnreich Goes International
BADEN STADT, Tirnreich- As the Tirnreich marked its 6 month anniversary, Emperor Konrad von Nacht addressed the Imperial Council on the importance of international community. Last Sunday, the Emperor visited the European Union at Brussels and requested membership in to the Union. In an effort to better showcase the Tirnreich's modern government and culture, the Emperor invited the mandatory evaluating staff on a tour of the capital region. The EU evaluating staff has been impressed with the showcase thus far, and will submit their reports sometime this week. The Accession Commission will vote later this month on the fate of the Tirnreich.

Keeping with the trend of international diplomacy, the Emperor has sent ambassadors to the United Nations to apply for membership. The Security Council and UN General Assembly will discuss the membership criteria with the ambassadors, which may later include Prime Minister Kohl. If the UN approves the Tirnreich, the Tirnreich will not send national Peacekeepers to any UN mission, as the Tirnlander forces are just efficient enough to take care of the Empire's current affairs.

One matter along this trend that IS final is the Tirnreich's membership into NATO, which was guaranteed when the United States recognized the Tirnreich as an independent state. Political analysts have seen this as a partially hostile action by both the US to make such an unfair ultimatum (and create a potentially volatile situation in eastern Europe) as well as the Tirnreich for accepting the offer. Other analysts suggest that as a prime (and permanent) member of the UN Security Council, the US can almost guarantee the Tirnreich gets UN membership. NATO membership accession and inauguration is set for 3 May 2010.

Tirnreich Declares WAR on Acijnstan
SINAJ, Saudi Arabia- With the War in Acijnstan reaching a climax, the Tirnreich has declared WAR on the Acijnstani government. Citing oppression and unlawful censorship of the public, exiling of the rightful royal family, and passive terrorism policy, the Emperor, Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Foreign Affairs declared a state of hostility towards the communist-dicatorship of Acijnstan.

Defense Minister Lutz stated that a previous estimate of 10,000 TDF troops to be shipped to Sinaj Strike Base would exceed both current Defense regulations as well as transportation restrictions. Instead, 2,500 more TDF soldiers will ship off to Sinaj Strike Base Friday, accompanying them will be 500 ISARS personnel, and the 21st and 46th Air Defense Wings of the IAC. A total of nearly 3,300 Imperial militants will ship off to support the 5,000 TDF soldiers already stationed in Saudi Arabia, bringing the total troop count to about 8,500 personnel.

Department of Sanitation Fears Possible Contamination
SUDFELD, Tirnreich- The Dept. of Sanitation, a subgroup of the Ministry of the Environment, fears that a water pump in Sudfeld may be contaminated with unknown pathogens.

Earlier today a D.o.S. maintenance engineer took routine chemical readings from Water Pump N.10 on Sudfeld's North side. Initial readings were normal, but about 15 minutes into the checkup, chemical warnings were set off. LabGroup Delta, an independent chemical lab based in Baden stadt, has received samples of the chemicals; they have concluded from their initial findings that the unknown substance is in fact a rare mix of Hydrogen and Iron Nitrate.

Although the sample was taken from the system, it was taken during a chemical spike, and 2 hours later there wasn't a trace of the mixture. The D.o.S. and MOTE will be keeping a close eye on WP No. 10, especially because the city may bid for the AIN Games and/or the Simlympic games this year.

Emperor von Nacht rushed to ER
-NACHTSBURG, Tirnreich
For some unknown reason, Emperor Konrad von Nacht collapsed during a private meeting between PM Kohl, Defense Minister Lutz, and several of the Emperor's personal advisors. After the episode, emergency personnel arrived promptly and rushed the Emperor to King's Crown Hospital, in Imperial Park.
Reports indicated that the Emperor was talking and pacing, when he suddenly stopped, frowned, and fainted. Other than the collapse, the Emperor received minor bruising on his left side, which he fell on, and may receive treatments for a concussion. The Department of Health, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs directive, has recommended advanced tests and observations on the Emperor's heart, head, and other vital organs.
In the event that the Emperor is incapacitated, Prime Minister Kohl will step in as Provisional Leader of the Tirnreich, under the direct supervision of current Empress Lara Oud-van Nacht. This will only happen until the death or rehabilitation of the Emperor, whereas the Empress will assume total control, or the Emperor will resume his reign, respectively.

After two days of debating and proposals, the Gold Summit is well underway. Here is the rundown for those who haven't been following the national newspapers.

Day 1
VAL D'OR, Lanaya- During Day 1's dialogue, Lanayan President Jeanne Trudel and Corrailian President Chuan agreed to draft the Lanaya-Corraile Free Trade Agreement. The idea of the LCFTA is to increase trade amongst these Atlantic neighbors, by way of abolishing tariffs and fees, in the effort of increasing the sustainability of both country's economies. Both parties seemed to be in full agreement, but let's see what our analysts have to say:
Darius Brummen- The LCFTA seems like a half-baked plan, being discussed only lightly before the start of the summit, and then for only one day during the summit. However, the agreement seems to open a larger financial doorway for both these nations, which is important seeing as how they are neighbors, and are fellow Union members. Although time will tell if this agreement works, I think everything looks sound and ready to be implemented. ~D. Brummen is a political and economics analyst for the TV station WeltGeld!~
Warren Haines- While both Corraile and Lanaya are good friends and ideal business partners, I don't see the agreement working out too well. If both countries have open trade and borders, crime could get very involved with the northern Atlantic trade. LCFTA opens a nice window for drug lords and mobsters to smuggle in illegal goods, or bring in formerly expensive merchandise to exploit others without a second thought. With these new regulations, these products, which will most likely be sold illegally, won't aid either economy, and will only make the crime rate worse. ~W. Day 2
After a day of discussion, the decision to construct a rail connection between Lanaya and Corraile is still undecided. Major pros expressed during the meeting include the increase of traveling internationally, ease of access, and the touchdown of a major transportation network on an unnamed island between the two countries. Cons include high costs, high maintenance, and direct competition with experienced air traffic between Solando Airport to Centreburg. As stated before, the decision to draft plans is still being contended over. Corraile is interested in ways to cut costs, in the form of alternative locomotion. Lanaya maintains that the tunnel projects and other aspects of the overall project will be fairly cheap, at a rate of :AINERO: 9 Billion. Yet, Corraile wants proof of investment, proof of funding, and an extended planning time for both countries to consider. Is this a smart move?
Manse Juermo- I think it is smart of Corraile to consider the investment. As the world is still in the middle of a recession, money isn't going to fall from the sky, or just get magically added to your country's account at the end of the year. Spending 9 Billion of anything, unless you live in 1930's Germany, or present day United States, is a pretty big deal. Overall, I think they should build, but only when they have lined up investors and partners to help fund and manage the project. ~M. Gary McGough- I applaud Corraile's decision to think more about the rail line, but in my opinion, they should scrub the project. A rail system like that would cost a lot of money, but also a lot of lives. Building an underground anything ain't exactly a walk in the park. An under an ocean? Please, I've overseen a lot of projects; (heck) I even helped build the Chunnel back in '92, and during the tunneling we lost 8 guys. Granted one of 'em was balancing blindfolded in front of the unmanned tunnel drill, but you get the idea. ~G.
