Random & Ready LCO
I decided to jump on the R&R bandwagon, now that I have one or two images ready that don't fit in any of my existing Lower Columbia threads. First up, here's my latest logo for my tentative bid for the 2011 Winter Simlympics:
Edit: Here's the first bid logo for comparison:
Comments and critiques welcome.

The newer logo looks really good. Just wondering, how would it look like if you scale it down to a small symbol in the corner of a TV screen?

That looks incredible, a lovely logo.
Personally I prefer the first one.

Yeah, the second is way better! Great job! Seem that we'll be rivals, and Forthwall also!

Tyler: Heh, thanks!
emgmod: Thank you! I'll try making a smaller version, but I don't have any TV screen templates at the moment.
Thomas: Thanks, I appreciate it!
Forsma: Thank you!
Julien: There will be that many of us bidding for February? Well, the more, the merrier, I say - it only increases our chances of winning!
I've been working on building my own version of Seattle so I can make a couple of historical pictures for the Puget Sound War wiki article that emgmod and I are working on. The city isn't big enough to start taking those pictures, yet, but I thought I'd show you a preview of the city as it stands now:
In the AIN alternate universe, the Puget Sound area was settled by immigrants who arrived via Illu'a and Nyhaven during the mid-to-late 17th century. The area rejected the kingship of Edward du Loup, Lower Columbia's founder, and eventually chose to form a republic, which itself united with another republic to its north to create the Republic of Puget-Fraser in 1813. At the time of the historical photos I plan on taking later, Lower Columbia will be in the process of conquering Puget-Fraser, an act which will lead to war with Illu'a in the 1890s.

Looks awesome! Personally, the first logo looks better, but if you filled the gradients with the color of the peaks on the second logo, I may change my vote

Re: Random & Ready LCO
Thanks for your continued advice and praise, guys! Geoff, I agree with you on the gradient color; I'll try changing it the next time I open up the file.
I have another historical picture of Seattle for you all; the caption speaks for itself:
This government center was built around 1800, not long before Seattle joined the Republic of Puget-Fraser. The construction of these buildings and the formation of a government in Seattle resulted in the city expanding rapidly, doubling in area in just ten years. Pictured are the Puget State Legislature building, the government offices on either side of it, the governor's mansion, and the state courthouse.

Re: Random & Ready LCO
wow- I want to live in that house.
btw, is this a sort of re-creation of Seattle, or just your own interpretation? Either way, I cant wait for more!

Great job with Seattle! Remember to make room for the war memorial.

Re: Random & Ready LCO
Thank you all! Sky Guy, this is more of an alternate-reality Seattle. I'm recreating some landmarks and localities, and using real place and street names, but I'm also adding in things that don't actually exist in the real Seattle (like the government center in the previous picture, as well as a future subway system) and deviating from the RL road layout (eg. no Alaskan Way Viaduct blocking the view of the waterfront). Daniel, thanks for reminding me of that. I've been working on my version of the Seattle Center (home of the Space Needle), and I've plopped a couple of possible memorials. Which do you think makes a better memorial - a fountain or a column? There's also an arch in the park, but I don't think it works as a memorial to a war that ended as a stalemate.
Here's one more Seattle picture for you all:
Lower Columbia began a war of conquest against Puget-Fraser in 1885. Seattle was captured in September of 1886, after a long siege. You can read more about that war in the only finished section of the wiki article on the subsequent Puget Sound War.

I say a fountain would work better for the memorial.
I think there's going to be a custom war set released soon on the STEX.Peter wrote:I think there's some custom war set from stex

Re: Random & Ready LCO
Time to revive another thread...
Thanks, guys!
Thomas, in case you haven't stumbled across it since August, I used props from Pegasus' Civil War Project, which is available at SimPeg.
Daniel, sounds good to me. I haven't played Seattle in a while, but I'll check what's there when I have the chance and choose a suitable fountain for the memorial.
Kendall Palace is great, but when the royal family wants to go on a seaside vacation, they often come here, to Pacific Palace. This palace is a few miles west of Astoria, situated very close to the Pacific Ocean. The whole complex is still a WIP; I'm going to add some more facilities to form a real complex and make my own additions to the garden décor (the gardens you see above are Ferox's original work). What's all this for, you might ask? You'll see, you'll see...
