I'm not sure how important the north-westerly islands are, but I would scrap them and have it focus on just Prenca, Fornax, Xena and Raffore.
Since you have a lot of role playing to go on with these nations, I'm sure it would be fine to turn Fornax into a combined state of these four nations.

I agree with Thomas, and make a federation or one nation (like I did), but I am ok with all of the islands becoming one nation

I'll think about that and will add it into my Roleplay Bank. I'm not thinking of making the whole Caroline Union into Fornax's land, but maybe let Fornax takeover part of it to balance out the region.

The Current Affairs | Quick News - Page 2 Empty Re: The Current Affairs | Quick News

Post by Aranho 10th April 2011, 18:19

As the news are months behind time, I'll post a summary of the happenings of Fornax and the region between December and now.

Overseas Fornaxian Mass Murder
Ongoingngoing
7 new victims murdered overseas, bringing the death toll to 13. Recent murders took place in Celeste, Centreburg, Shanghai, 2 in Singapore, Sydney and Taipei. The latest murder took place on January 20, in which no further murders took place. All murderers have been identified and either arrested or found dead. Only the Shanghai and Sydney murderer have not been found yet.

On 11 February 2011, according to Fornaxian authorities, all of the victims (including the earlier 2 Centreburg's and Celeste's, Aleksania City, Providence and Hong Kong) are connected in a way, although authorities have yet to release the findings as investigations are ongoing.

On 1 March 2011, lead investigator Javis Kong was killed when his car exploded along Mackenzie Expressway in East Sypogen during the evening rush hour when he's driving back to his residence. The cause of the explosion was due to a homemade bomb.

Foreigner Visa
December 2010
On December 5, the Foreigner Visa was introduced, officially replacing all current visas when the old visas become invalid on December 10. The new visa must be purchased disregarding the duration of the stay, cost F$120 and valid for 48 months, costing F$30 more and 12 months shorter than the old visas.

At midnight on December 25, the Fornaxian authorities issued an arrest warrant for all foreigners on Fornax holding on to the old visa that didn't apply for the new visa. A total of 83 foreigners were arrested, but released the following day, leaving with only a warning after purchasing the new visa.

Fornax-CU Relations
Ongoing
Tensions continue to run high between Fornax and the Caroline Union. On December 6, the CU suspects Fornax in becoming totalitarian, in which Fornax denies. On New Years' eve, the National Anti-Terrorism Division (NATD) arrested 27 members of the Unified Party Cells in Fornax, and another 64 members between January 2011 and March 2011 in two different crackdowns under Operation RoundUp.

According to press release, the NATD said that the Unified Party were plotting to terrorise the general members of the public at several installations around the country, including airports, train stations, subway stations, bus interchanges, highway and expressway interchanges and sensitive government installations. Amongst the evidence seized during the crackdown are plans, materials, fake passports and weapons that were too be used to terrorise the people.

Since the Unified Party is linked to the Caroline Union, a claim that the CU constantly insist that it is not related at all, Fornax claims that the CU are attempting to harm the people of Fornax since Fornax refuses to join the CU. CU claims that although it is disappointed at Fornax's refusal to join the CU, it have no intention to harm the people of Fornax whatsoever.

Later in the year in March, the CU's Minister of International Affairs Dr. Lawrence Pang made a comment during an interview with Channel NewsAsia (CNA) MCG Bureau Chief Mrs. Yang Sui Lin for CNA's new documentary The Caroline Rivalry, saying that the Unified Party Terrorist Saga earlier in the year could be a staged event, amongst other past events Dr. Pang refuses to point out due to sensitive reasons.

Ontong Java Complex
Ongoing
Construction on the Ontong Java (OJ) Complex will be done in stages, all are ongoing at the same time. Brief information for Phase One, which houses the military base, was released on December 25 and is expected to be completed in early 2012, just in time for the first batch of trained local soldiers.

On 1 January 2011, foundations for Phase One is completed. Two weeks later, excavation for the rest of the site is 75% completed; foundations is 35% completed; facilities are 5% completed. Released on March 11 is the brief information on Phase Two, housing the first nuclear reactor facility and the military airbase, expected to be completed by end 2012. Despite the speedy 24/7 construction and the government's assurance that safety procedures and the integrity of the infrastructure are of top standards, the international community express concerns for the integrity of the whole complex itself.

More countries other than the CU are now beginning to question on why it needs to build the complex in such a short period of time.

Leaked US Diplomat Cables
Ongoing
On December 17, Wikileaks released six cables about the Melanesia Caroline Group (MCG), with another five cables five days later, and four latest cables on February 22. These cables so far include the September 11 Plot to attack Fornax, Xena's plans to leave the CU, Fornax's plans to create a military force, Fornax's borken promises and Caroline Aviation Group's bankruptcy conspiracy. These cables reveal Fornax's intention to create a military force through means of intentionally collapsing an aviation company and obtaining weapons of mass destruction, amongst other means.

This spark a concern within the international community that Fornax is becoming dangerous, calling for an emergency meeting by the UNSC on February 23, then by the IAEA on the 25th. Both are for Fornax's hidden agenda for a military force and a suspected secret nuclear weapon facility. No resolutions have been made yet due to insufficient physical evidence.

Cicone Delta Region
Ongoing
While the Cicone Demolition Review is expected to be completed by May 2011, the government have propose on February 15 in damming up parts of whole of the Cicone Delta Region for hydroelectric power and water resources. On February 17, the new Cicone Sustainability Study Committee (CSSC) was announced. It's role is to study on the feasibility on damming the delta for hydroelectric power and water resources usage. The CSSC will also conduct on case studies around the world for projects concerning hydroelectric power and water usage. Some projects include China's Three Gorges Dam and Singapore's Marina Bay Reservoir. The CSSC is expected to release it's report on 20 September 2011.

On 8 April 2011, an unidentified government official posted an article on the Ministry of National Interest and Development's website of a possible renaming of the city of Sodom to New Cicone, in remembrance of the original city Cicone that was obliberated by the Great Fornax Flood last year. Neither the Fornaxian Government nor the mayor of Sodom gave comments of renaming Sodom.

Espionage Case
Ongoing
According to investigations, the 34 years' old American male tourist that was arrested for stealing sensitive government documents was planning to handover the documents to Wikileaks. The contents of the documents were not released to the public, but could "hamr to lives of the people of Fornax at home and abroad".

The male tourist, divorced and unemployed, might face the death sentence for espionage. His case will be heard at the High Court of Fornax. Shortly after this, on 3 April 2011, the Fornaxian Ambassador of the United States was summoned by the US Government, clarifying on the outcome of the male tourist.

On 9 April 2011, the US Embassy Official in Sypogen meet up with the Chancellor fo Fornax in a close door meeting to discuss about allowing the US Government deal and punish with the male tourist in American soil. The Chancellor refuses. The US then threathens to severe all foreign relations with Fornax. The Fornaxian Government have not yet responded to the US' threat.

Ongoing
Almost seven months after the failure of the Grandour Dam Series along the Cicone River in the Melanesian Mountain Range, in February 2011, the Fornaxian Government officially launched an investigation of a possible design flaw and foul play leading to the failure of the four dams that wipe out the Cicone Delta Region completely and deemed no longer habitable. An investigation was launched due to the discovery of evidence of design flaw and foul play. Several companies and individuals will be questioned behind the failure, including the then Ministry
