History:

Not much can be said about the history of Conspiagro and VenaTiagro. It was discovered the same time as the US yet the settlements did not want to be part of the United States so they developed separately. Around 1987, the Annual Eastern Island Nations (EIN) was held and the two Major nations along with their smaller states decided to form a Union in order to protect not only national interest, but also from the US or Canada buying out the smaller islands. The Union brought a United Military, Economy and trade. development has been slow but the economy managed to survive the economic crash and remain strong!

Note:There isn't a lot of custom content for two reasons, First the stex is horribly slow!! 14 kbps was my fastest download speed, and second, i am waiting for the stex collections 2 and 3 but i did get NAM, RHM, SAM!!! also a custom water and terrain mod

Firstly, I think I will agree woth Jo that it needs a LOT of custom content. Some members need around 2GB worth of plugins sometimes to fit their regions. Also, I think Mount MiaVisus is a little too... Unrealistic? Unsually mountains are composed of mountain ranges, and that the islands are a little too small for such a large and steep-sloped mountain.

Finally, I think its part of entry requirements for members to use a custom terrain mod, you can find many of them in SimTrop or SC4D.

Other than that, it looks pretty good and I hope to see it look even better!

I would also like to know much more about the history of the nation, especially how Latin was introduced to the islands and how it gained status as a official language? As far as I know Latin has only survived as the official language of the Roman Catholic Church and even so not that many people can speak it fluently.

Also I would like for you to reconsider the government form because it sounds like Conspiagro and Venatiagro are two different states but they are both 'Democratic Socialist Republics' forming an union. If they are both democracies, what I've understood, they either form a confederation or a federation, depending how much of the political powers are delegated among the states. Say, if they share a parliament, they are a federation but if they also have their own parliaments, they are a confederation.

Anyways, I'm eagerly waiting for an update!

Yeah my folder is only maybe maximum 500 MB and that is mostly mods to make the game better. I ordered the Stex Cd's so IDk when they will get here so that i can make them more realistic. As for the Mount MiaVisius, it is part of a mountain range, just that region does not show it, and the two mainlands are huge islands while the smaller states are small islands.

No problem, i will work on detailing the history a little bit more, and focus on that. As for the government, i will also write a small article on how it was structured and as to why it was structured like that in the first place

HISTORY:

Conspiagro and VenaTiagro were discovered in 1563, a bit later after the discovery of the New world. They were colonized for the rich volcanic soil and the rich variety of sea life near the mainlands and the smaller islands. Life was very good for the colonies as they quickly grew and became one of the best areas near the 13 Colonies. The main export was to the 13 colonies, including seafood and grains as well as some natural elements such as coal and iron ore. Life couldn't have been any better as the colonies grew from a couple hundred to a couple thousand.

The war between the 13 colonies and the British empire scared the people of the islands. Even though they were called for help, they refused and quickly cut off trade to every nation, including the colonies, the British, French and Spanish empires. The colonies decided to quickly form their own nation and adopted a crude form of government where the rich and wealthy made all the decisions for the islands while the working and lower class had no say. It was very rough times for the islands as VenaTiagro did not want to form just one nation and instead have their own. The smaller islands were split up between the two nations, yet diplomatic ties were maintained to ensure safe defense and protection from the other more imposing nations.

Tensions were high after the colonies won against the British empire because of the refusal for assistance from the island nations. the US cut off all ties with the island nations forcing them to trade with the British empire once again. This caused implications, as the British sought to make the islands part of their empire.

The islands closed off their borders until WW2 struck. Deciding to send units to assist in the ousting of Hitler and the Third Reich. The US was very pleased with the courage of the islands and reopened trades. The economy strengthened very quickly as the US provided technology and materials, in exchange for putting a naval base and other materials the island had. The US and the islands became best of friends over the years which made the islands economy and military very strong.

The islands held annual Eastern island nation summits to discuss matter that related to the economy, military and environment among other things. The summit in 1987 was a turning point however, as the 2 nations, Conspiagro and VenaTiagro united to form the "The Democratic Socialist Republic of the Union of Conspiagro and VenaTiagro" Uniting the islands in many ways and finally bringing long term tensions to an end.

Government:

Conspiagro and Venatiagro are both Democratic nations. However, they have adopted many Socialist ideas not keen to democratic governments. Since both Conspiagro and VenaTiagro were formed as Republics, they decided to keep that name as part of a memorial of their history. so the official form of government is a Democratic Socialist Republic. Below is explained how the Government of the Union works in relation to the separate governments in Conspiagro and VenaTiagro.

The National government ( the body that governs both the islands) is responsible for nation wide decisions concerning the economy, Military, Environment, Agriculture and Sea life. All decisions here are made into laws which are adopted by both nations. The Government is composed of 1 House with 850 seats. each nation gets to elect, at the discretion of the nation, Who goes into office. It is split evenly between the two nations which is split more evenly to accommodate all parties present in the 2 nations. Each party gets an equal representation and all bills are voted on by each member. Abstaining or vetoing has been banned and either a yes or no must be given. Any member who refuses face a 3 year jail term.

The Central governments (the body the governs each nation separately) is responsible for nation based decisions. These can include taxes, service and any other area which the National Governments does not dictate. Any new bills proposed by each nation that has a major effect on the Union must be taken up to the National government before it can be passed into law.

District governments deal with district issues.

Language:

English is the primary language spoken in the Union. However, Latin is very common. Latin was first introduced as a secondary language in schools in the 1920's. since it was very pure and easy to understand, All students came out of school fluent in both Latin and English. Latin was adopt as the secondary language in 1956. It was introduced into the nations from the Catholic church. The nations both setup laws requiring all official military, scientific and top secret files be written in Latin, since not everyone can read Latin outside the Nations.

The main things for me that need improvement are the images - I have a pet hatred of Maxis content - and the map. It needs to be more detailed.

Just to make you guys don't think i left, and also because I am still DL custom content

Religion

Conspiagro and VenaTiagro have currently no official religion due to past confrontations with the Church, mainly the Catholic Church. The catholic church was established around 50 years after the declaration of Independence, even though there were predominantly catholic people. The church played a major role in government, from electing the officials, to governing the people of the islands. Other religions were not tolerated to be practiced in public or to be talked about. Any other religious people were allowed only to practice it in their own homes, but even this was frowned upon by the Church. This continued until the Formation of the union, when the church was given strict laws and regulations after the uniting of Conspiagro and VenaTiagro, as well as after Red Day (explained below.) The church is still there and 60% of the population is catholic, but thats about it.

Red Day occurred on August 24th 1988 a year after the union was established. It sparked an intense fear into the church, which still had a major role in Government, and caused several riots across both countries. The church, fearing it was losing power, initiated several messages aimed at destroying and ridiculing the union, saying it was an act of the devil, its not meant to be etc etc. The riots were contained by local law enforcement but left both nations unsettled. then on October 18th 1988, A local terrorist group, called the Heavenly Angels, seized control of Merciagro, a small city on the island of Triagro, south of Conspiagro. Inspired and Driven by the church, they overwhelmed local law enforcement and quickly took over the city, using the city as a hub to carry out other attacks. Unfortunately, the Church backed up the terrorists, calling them Davine intervention, and to make matters worse, the city of 235,000 joined up with the terrorists, who allowed anyone not interested to leave.

Several attempts were mounted to retake the city by The Union and US government, but all failed as the city was barricaded and well equipped to handle invaders. The National government, along with all parties, met up and decided what to do with the city, as it no longer can be taken back, and contained a secret military office, with sensitive information, including launch codes for a nearby base, which had 7 nuclear missiles ready to be fired. After several days, and several meetings with both The US and the United Kingdom, who decided to get involved since it was an ally, a decision was made.

There was only one and one choice that was left, that could save millions of people......

Wow. Interesting view of religious life in Conspiagro and Venatiagro. I doubt that the Catholic Church would back up terrorists, but it's an interesting story nonetheless.

Thanks Thomas, what I am implying is that the government viewed them as terrorists but the church didn't.

Update 4

Religion Continued

After almost a month of deliberation on the grave decision, The Union decided to carry it out and on August 24th 1988, The City of Merciagro and area were decimated using a 2.50 Megaton Nuclear bomb. The effects were tremendous as well as devastating as over 30 km2 were eradicated and the city destroyed. Over 150 000 were killed by the initial blast and a further 65 000 by the nuclear fallout from the blast radius. The terrorist group was eliminated in the process but the effects shocked the Union as well as its allies. Never before were a nuclear bomb dropped on a populated area during peace times. Russia as well as Rome and other major catholic states deemed the attack "unnecessary" and condemned it. Was the decision Necessary? was it worth it? a press release on August 30th 1988 explained all the details:


Ladies and Gentlemen, we are gathered here outside Miagro Hill, Home of the Union President and government where Marcus Okerilley, president of the union has given his official speech on the destruction of Merciagro and the elimination of the terrorist group known as the Heavenly Angels. we now go live to the speech!

My Fellow people, My friends, Today was a grave day in history, a stain that will forever be engraved in the hearts of Conspiagro and Venatiagro. A stain that will be remembered for generations to come, A stain.... That will forever have an effect on us. A city was taken over by terrorists, a city valued by our people, a city strong and proud, but defamed and ridiculed by the world. a city that was once high and mighty, falling to the terrorist group Heavenly Angles. Never have we seen before a terrorist group supported by the church, their actions deemed "of God" and "Necessary" to bring hope back to these nations.

A city which fell to the lies and deceit of these terrorists, A city which fought against its own people and its own nation. A city which, unfortunately, after several attempts by not only our local military, but also by British and American forces, stood against and could not be taken back, Was eradicated off the face of the planet. Many lives were lost, both military and terrorist. Many..... Civilian lives as well ..... im sorry, i can not continue....

Actually, No, the cold war was between the US and Soviet Union. During that time however, they were testing nuclear weapons right and left while the tensions were building high. The nuclear bomb came from the armory of Conspiagro and VenaTiagro and was the sole responsibility of the two nations. That was made clear before the weapons were dropped. In retrospect, even though they are close to the US in term of geography, and they share much information on technology, economic and military, they remain separate and the US has separate affairs from Conspiagro and VenaTiagro and vice versa.

That being true, since the US and UK helped out the Union beforehand, the Soviet Union would have thought that the US or UK was testing a bomb, or instigated the drop of the bomb since the Union is socialistic.

Despite this, the dropping of a nuclear bomb is frowned upon by the AIN, as one country used a nuclear bomb, and faced sanctions, court suits, and negative diplomatic repercussions.

Testing is one thing. But well think what will happen if a nation like Cuba a socialist state, bombed city like Santiago de Cuba? What first will be the reaction of Soviet Union? The reaction will be well i must agree whit ForthWall, very dramatic. American Public seeing a Genocide happening in a country that is located not far from its country, even if you say that the politics, economy separate, will demand an intervention against a state that uses or given right to use this weapons. Sooo well there are different reactions.

Socialism is closer to communism than it is to democracy so the soviet union would have never attacked the US or UK because of the government. The decision was and always would be, the complete unanimous decision of the Union itself and no other. The decision was not taken lightly, The city that was taken over had a nuclear arsenal stored within it and the government feared that if the terrorists got their hands on it, disaster would have ensued. The US and UK both feared this and assisted in trying to take over the city. After several failed attempts, that was the final decision. It is something that has happened in the past (over 20 years ago) and no longer affects any diplomatic relations the union has with any other nation.

Yes true, but like i said above, the city had a strong nuclear arsenal as well as sensitive military data. The decision was not taken lightly, but it was the best solution.
